    Hi Bride 1983X

my videographer is 1560 euro + VAT for 9 hrs of shooting (yes i know that sounds soooo long), that then gets edited to 30 - 45 min video. or i could have opted for 2 hrs of shooting at 650euro + VAT for 30mins video. I just decided to go for the 9 hrs as I wanted every moment captured on film... let hope he edits it well!

Hope your planning going well. Im over budget on loads of things so just trying to be stricter with bridesmaid dresses costs etc.

Just booked a personal trainer and belive me I am the last person ever who would normally do anything like this so I hope it works.. lacking motivation at the mo!

Hi Flossy....thanks for the info!! I decided against it in the end but I hope it isn't one of those things I live to regret!!! Arrrgh decisions.  I might just end up putting the photos in one of those video montages or something!

    Hi Flossy38

Can I be cheeky and ask what you are paying for hair and make up?  I have just started a new thread as I am having a complete breakdown about the costs that have recently come through from my wedding planner..... image

Ahh wow! How amazing is that! We are flying out on the 28th or 29th May I think so we might see you! How are your plans coming along?

I messaged Mario the other day asking what the next steps were as we have booked the gardens and Villa Eva and he said the next step is to get guests to book their accommodation and thats it really. Lol I love that he is so laid back lol.

I feel like he has everything under control so it makes it pretty stress free but I am too excited, I want to plan some more! Have you done anything else yet other than book the ceremoney and Villa Eva?

What made you choose Ravello? I think we have chosen well!image

Can I just ask if you have booked your hotel yet? Have your guests booked yet? We will be staying at Hotel Villa Fraulo! Looks lush. Also strange question, but  when you went out a few weeks ago, what did Ravello look like? Its just that when we went out in march it was grey cold and colourless as no flowers out or anything. Mario was reassuring us that it looks like a different place come May time I cant wait to see recent pics! Are you on his website?

    Hey Gemma,

We went in mid April and were really lucky to have some sunny weather, think that makes all the difference as the whole place looked magical! So Im sure he is right im just praying for a sunny day!

Not on the website yet, need to get a photo in!

Same as you, have have both venues booked and accomodation for the main guests (hotel giordano and some hotels in scala so far) All our other guests know to book soon as we sent out an e-invite advising them too.

I know you you feel! I am spending so much time on pintrest or looking at flowers/table plans/bridesmaid dresses and its so frustrating as there is nothing to actually do or choose for ages! I do feel in such safe hands with Mario though, he really did know everything!

I have chosen a dress (well having one made actually) have u started dress shopping yet? I didnt want it to end!!

Ahh I reckon it'll be lovely and sunny end of may beginning of June so we will both be really lucky! I can't wait to see recent wedding pics on the website in the next few weeks! Are you having Enrico as your photographer?!

Yes I am as organised as I can be, I have the bridesmaids dresses, shoes and jewellery. I have my wedding dress and we have sent the invites out and booked our evening reception for when we get home from Italy! I know how I want the tables to look and what music to have as well! We are having white silver and ivory image what's your colour scheme? I love pinterest btw u can get so many good ideas from it!

Ah Wow what's your dress like?! Do you know where you will be staying yet? Where are you heading off to on honeymoon?!

Gemma90, sorry for the late reply!! There is not enough time in the day for me to sit and daydream like I want to!

How are your plans going? Went to a wedding last week and has made it feel even more real! Keep trying to plan all the little bits but get myself confused!

The theme is slate gray and bright yellow, found the perfect bridesmaid dresses (sorella vita ombre in nightfall) but of course they are waaay over what I wanted to pay! I'm lucky that I can work extra shifts for extra money but means all my free days for the next year will be gone!

I'm so excited just over thinking everything way to much. My main concerns is that with the dinner being so long that people will get bored, especially if at tables with people they don't know. Mario and Anna promised me that isn't the case but I still keep wondering if I should be planning things to keep the guests entertained during the meal, like little tables games etc. Also I know how much everyone loves a photo booth and am trying to work out an alterative.

What little extras are you doing? Like guest books etc? Also are u finishing at 2am? I'm not sure of that's long enough but would rather the guests leave wanting more than wanting it to end!

    Wow long post, sorry!

    Hello!

Very happy to have stumbled across this Ravello 2016 forum, there is an old thread on here  circa 2007 that pops up on google all the time but obviously its a bit outdated now!

Will be great to have somewhere to chat to other Ravello brides over the next year!

I've just come back from a 5 day planning visit in Ravello/Amalfi coast and saw approx 15 venues whilst there (I'm mental I know). I also met with 3 different wedding planners, so if anyone hasn't been for a visit yet and has any questions- I might be able to help!

Ravello is just beautiful, and honestly I think I would have been happy with any of the venues we saw, however we fell completely in love with Villa Cimbrone and so have taken the plunge and booked that for July 2016!

Is anyone else having their wedding at Cimbrone in 2016?

    Victoria

    Hi Brides!

I was hoping I could get some advice on Make-up artist in Ravello.  I am looking at Gisella and Nicole Storey. Has anyone heard of them or had any experience? Would be great to get some reviews to help me with my choice.

    Thanks x

Hi brides! Hoping some of you can help me as I am in full panic mode! 😑

we are in the early stages of booking our wedding with Mario at wagner tours. We are getting married in the town hall gardens, followed by the prosecco toast in Ravello town square and then onto villa Eva for the reception and disco. We have around 40-50 guests attending. (August 2016)

I have put a halt on the booking as I got myself all worked up when looking for accommodation! :( I am finding it so hard to decide which area to stay in (is Ravello too far from the coast?) and when i looked for hotels in Amalfi they were all so expensive and they all were so far from "actual Amalfi" when I looked into them further... Hotel excelsior for example is only recommended for people with cars. I need to mention that none of our guests will be hiring cars as the roads of Amalfi in peak summer sound terrifying!

Also, could any of you advise as to how you and your wedding guests will be arriving in Ravello from Naples airport as it seemed such hard work when I looked into it! There is no direct bus, ferry or train. Have you booked direct transfers and what were the costs?

    Thank you...

    A panicking bride xx

    Hello future Ravello brides!

    I would welcome any advice!

So happy that I've come across this blog as with planning a wedding abroad I need all the help I can get!!

I'm Planning my wedding next year and I am finding it difficult to narrow down a venue.  We are having a small wedding of max 25 guests (most likely around 18 though) and we want somewhere intimate and special...not just somewhere you could go for dinner any time if you know what I mean.  Villa Eva looks amazing but I think it would be too big if we only have a few guests.  Would love a sea view!

If anyone has been to/has advice on the following reception venues that would be great!:

Hotel Caruso - looks amazing but expensive

Rosselinis at Hotel Palazzo Avino - again looks amazing but expensive

Ristaronte Raffaele at Hotel Parsifal - ?

and finally....outside Sorrento...,Relais Blu seems stunning!

    Any other suggestions are welcome!

     Thanks

    Hi Samantha!

Lol I'm so sorry I've only just seen your message on here! I've been super busy as we are in the middle of buying a new house so everything is happening at once! All good though!

I'm glad to hear that it all seems to be going well with you! Our wedding plans are all falling into place as well. We have sent out our invites and we have 41 people coming so far and they have all pre booked their hotels. I have the bridesmaid dresses, their shoes and jewellery. My dress is on order, I have my shoes, jewellery and underwear. We have ordered the rings and booked Enrico the photographer and booked our hotel. Once we have had the rsvps from all of our guests and they have booked flights, I will get in touch with Mario and find out what the next step is! Very exciting!

I love that colour scheme slate grey and yellow! That'll look gorgeous!  I hadn't thought about guests being bored during dinner at all. Just think, they will be enjoying delicious food whilst looking at an amazing view and chatting and laughing amongst themselves, even if they don't particularly know eachother! We are having a playlist of chilled house music playing in the background during the dinner (think café savannah- Ibiza style) so you could choose some nice music you would like. Honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about in that respect!

In terms of a photo booth, You could set up a table in the gardens with a polaroid or a camera and some funny props that guests could use? That'll be just as fun as having a photo booth but a lot cheaper as I cant imagine them being able to get a proper one through the village of Ravello!

As for extras, We are having the fairy lights and Villa Eva to be lit up in pink to set a serene atmosphere. When we get to Villa Eva, we will have canapes and cocktails and hopefully a saxophonist depending on cost. Then we are having a DJ to get the party started! we want to set up a camcorder in the gardens for guests so that they can say a message for us instead of a guest book, this will be set up towards the end of the night so will be extra funny as no doubt most of them will be quite drunk! We will play this on an overhead projector along with our photos at the UK reception!

Yes, we are going for the 2am finish! I think 4am may be too long a day for everyone!

What time are you getting married? What have you done so far?

Lovely talking to you. Feel free to PM me!

Take care, hope to hear from you soon         x

    Hi Laura!

I am also looking at both of those make up artists as well. I contacted a hairdresser called Gerado who works in conjuction with Gisella and he said to contact him next year-March time to book as its too early yet. I cant find any photos of Gisellas work but I have heard through reviews that she is excellent. I tried to contact Nicole Storey but I received no reply from her so if anyone has booked with either let us know!

    Thanks! x

    Hi Laura316,

Sorry to hear that you are panicking! Hopefully I might be able to put your mind at rest a little bit!

So basically we are doing the same as you as in ceremony in the gardens, toast in the square and reception at Villa Eva for 40-50 guests! :) You are 100% best to stay in Ravello in my opinion as well as advising your guests to book hotels in Ravello also! It is very high up and you cannot access the beach without a car or bus. Its a gorgeous quaint pretty village to stay in and everything is within walking distance. If everyone stays in the town, they wont necessarily need cars unless they want to explore the other surrounding towns.

I would 100% recommend you stay there if you plan to marry as you might find it difficult to get back to a hotel at 2am if its outside of Ravello, whereas if you stay, you haven't got to worry and you can all walk back together! There are taxis available and there is a bus that runs into Ravello but Im unsure how often it comes and goes but considering the date, it will be very busy!

I asked Mario about transfers and he was very helpful. He gave me a price list for private transfers they can arrange through Wagner tours which worked out very reasonable. Obviously if you have  20 guests that can travel together on a minibus that will work out cheaper for each of them. Car hire is also very reasonable but if guests are concerned about the drive then that might not be a possibility.

If you have any questions, send Mario an email and he will put your mind at rest! You cannot go wrong booking through Mario and doing what you have suggested! It will be perfect trust me!

Let us know what you decide to do!

    Hi S14,

Hopefully I might be able to help you a bit as I feel like I am on a roll at the moment! Lol.

I agree that Villa Eva is a little too big for a small intimate wedding with a small number of guests and it would be costly too as you pay more for the venue the less guests you have, If you have over 30, the price comes down considerably.

Hotel Caruso is amazing! Gorgeous hotel and views! Would definitely recommend a wedding dinner there! It would be worth the cost in my opinion!

Hotel Palazzo Avino- again gorgeous hotel but expensive and more formal than any of the others. It just depends what you are after.

We stayed in hotel Parsifal when we visited in March, Lovely homely hotel but I wouldn't recommend it for a wedding dinner personally. We didn't enjoy the food either, we felt it was quite basic.

We also visited Sorrento but did not go to Relais Blu so I cannot advise on that but it is a lovely town, although not as quaint and pretty as Ravello.

Good luck on finding somewhere! Out of those, I would go for Hotel Caruso!

Let us know how you get on!

I am hoping someone could give me some advise. We are getting married in Ravello Aug 2016. We won't have chance to view the venues. We are considering Hotel Palumbo,  Garden hotel or parsifal hotel and was wondering if anyone had view any of these on their trips to Ravello and could offer any feedback.  Xx

    Hi S14

If you liked Relais Blu you should also look up Villa Eliana- very similar/modern venue and your party is small enough that you could all stay there. They seemed very keen to please at this venue, and I was sorely tempted to book it (even though I didn't want modern)! A lot of the wedding planners I contacted will happily make venue suggestions from the very beginning, so maybe contact a few with your dilemma.

  • Hi brides to be 😁

im going out on Friday to check out venues and meet with planners for an August wedding next year. I'm beginning to worry because I really want to have the ceremony at Duomo church but neither myself or my fiancé are Catholics. I have been christened but don't a church goer. Would I have to resort to a civil wedding in one of the gardens?

I've booked some appointments with wedding planners too in the hope they can advise on decorators, florists, photographers and videographers but im thinking they may have their preferred contacts who may not be the best people to use?

    Panicking!! Xxxx

  • Hi Stephanie77

How was your trip? Did you fin a venue you liked? I can't answer your church question, as its not something we looked into, but assuming you got an answer whilst you were out there!

I was worried about the supplier thing too, that I would be forced into using suppliers I didn't like, either through my planner or by my venue! It differs by planner, but they all assured me that if I didn't like any of their suppliers, they would allow me to find my own. However..... its been a blessing in disguise, I've found the suppliers they recommend to be fantastic and actually having the choice of say 4-5 has made life much easier than having unlimited choices!

So far we've booked planner, venue, photographer & videographer for July 2016. Florist and music are next on my list!

  • Evening Ravello brides,

I have just come accross this forum and feel so happy to hear from others who are planning a wedding in Ravello in 2016. We are aiming for September and are also considering Hotel Caruso.

I am in the process of picking my wedding planner and it is not easy. We are thinking either 'the Amalfi experience' or ' wedinitaly' has anyone went with either?

can I ask if those who have selected Hotel Caruso paid the exclusivity fee? If you don't what does that mean?

would love to to hear from other brides

i felt so alone planning this so this forum is Fab!! Melanie x
