Negotiating venue costs

Hi all, im looking to get married next summer in Kent most probably a country house type venue. Do venue let you negotiate venue costs? Price per head costs? How flexible are they? Are the prices they quote the prices you have to pay? Any help grately appreciated x

  • We cater in Kent at some beautiful local country houses.

Normally the price per head is the cost paid for the catering.

The venue normally charges a flat venue hire for the use of the rooms, gardens, kitchen etc

Some allow you to bring in your own outside caterers or have a list of a possible three that they only allow to use in their kitchens.

Chiddingstone castle for example now only allow one caterer who is very expensive fine dining. Due to Dermot O,leary booking it last year!

The home secretary weekend retreat at Chevening allow us to cater there but only for small weddings of up to 48 guests in the beautiful Brew House.

We also allow our brides to erect their marquee on our land. We have colourful gardens for photos and the land overlooks fields and acient woodland. Other brides have driven to nearby Knole House or Penshurst Place to use as a backdrop for photos before coming here to the reception.

If you would like some recommendations for country houses please feel free to PM us.
