    I'll start

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

I'm getting married on Nov 9th 2007 to Graeme. I met him at work and took me a while to realise he was boyfriend potential. The proposal was quite drunken - at a BBQ in our friend's kitchen.

    2. Where are you getting married?

We are getting married at The Hub in Edinburgh. Ceremony and reception in the same place.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

Civil ceremony - my favorite Aunty is a registrar and she is doing the ceremony for us - really pleased.

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Yes - chosen Maggie Sottero Samara in Black and White. It is so dramatic and I love it.

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

I think I am going with Images of Morningside - I am going to see them next week but love their pictures on the web site.

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

I am having just one - my sister. I could have chosen about 6 but in the end I decided that I just wanted to have my sis cos she will be great and will really look after me before and during.

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

Not chosen yet but think I would like a very sparkly tiara. Not having a veil though.

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

I am off to London in the New Year to visit Emmy - the shoes look wonderful and are supposed to be so comfortable.

    9. What is your colour scheme?

Black and white with splashes of red. Very simple and quite plain. The venue is extremely colourful so doesn't need tables etc to be too colourful.

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

My engagement and wedding rings - we got them through a friend who works with a jeweller in Dubai. I got the rings valued and they are worth 4 times what we paid in Dubai!

    Great thread, this is me!

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

June 14th 2007, to Andrew. We met through an online forum. I got two proposals, first time just as we were pottering about at home, then a second one, one bended knee, once we'd found and bought the ring.

    2. Where are you getting married?

Surrey, it's not booked yet but I'd like the reception at Great Fosters, if we can make it affordable.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

    Civil, at a registry office.

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Know the sort of thing I want, but can't find it anywhere!

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

Not chosen yet, but found a bloke I really like at the Wedding Show, just have to persuade OH we can afford him.

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

    Don't think I'm bothering.

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

    Undecided yet

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

I want a peep toe with closed heel, but not found them yet.

    9. What is your colour scheme?

Cream, pale blue and choc brown

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

Best pieces of advice so far are to not obsess about all things weddingy and to do things our way, not the way family want us to.

    Hi

    1. I'm getting married on 9th June 2007 to Lee, we met online but we always lived in the same town so our first date was at our local cinema - He proposed in my parents bathroom last xmas! (don't ask!)

    2. We are marrying in Letchworth Garden City (where we live) in Hertfordshire.

    3. It will be at the Broadway Hotel - in the middle of the town centre.

    4. Bought my dress, its number 3141 by Sincerity.

    5. Yes we have put a deposit down on a local photographer called Len Saunders - no website unfortunately.

    6. We are having 2 bridesmaids - my sister and SIL2B, one flowergirl - my future niece, and 2 pageboys - my future nephew and my son.

    7. I'm having a swarowski crystal flower tiara, maybe a hair clip and a plain ivory elbow length veil.

    8. Unsure on shoes yet - I have fairly wide feet and a high instep so finding it hard to find anything suitable.

    9. Pink, ivory and pale gold.

    10. Biggest bargain is my dress - £142 for a brand new Sincerity dress (with tags).

Best advice is to shop around, not go for the first thing you see even if it looks right - fate will guide you to the right thing at the right time!

Ohh I just can't resist these things!! I haven't decided on everything but hey.......

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

I'm getting Married to Christopher Hall, possibly sometime in 2008 but not set a date yet! We first met during rehearsals for the savoynet production of Pirates Of Penzance at the international Gilbert and Sullivan festival in Buxton Derbyshire, and first realised we liked eachother at a savoynet doo at a friends hotel later that year. We didn't get together however untill the same doo, the NEXT year! The proposal was 5 months after we got together, i proposed to him while we were lying on my bed at uni!!!

    2. Where are you getting married?

Not sure yet but probably in Ipswich at my home church.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

A mixture of both probably (if that makes sense!)!! I go to church but Chris doesn't so have talked to the minister at the church (methodist) and he is quite happy to do a service that is not 'too religious' as although Chris supports me going to church he says it would feel wrong to him to make christian vows! Bless!

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

This I have decided on!!! My friend Mavis has offered to make my dress for me and I am going to have one in the style of Galadriel from the LOTR films.......

    http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Elf/Galadriel/Prolog/gladProl_sj.jpg

mine will be in LILAC though and not with all that beading!!

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

I am hopefully going to ave my friend Gez taking the photos as I find proffessional photographers so expensive! She has done loads of photography for proms and stuff so I know that her photos are good! Was looking at Mike Kwasniak http://www.mikekwasniak.co.uk/pages/wedding/wwedding001.html

as he is the photographer for our G&S society but he is WWWAAAAAAAAYYYYY to expensive for us!:\(

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

I am hopefully havin 5 bridesmaids! (I haven't asked them all yet!) One of them is my best mate from 6th form who i've always promised would be my bridesmaid if I ever got married, 2 are friends from the savoynet group through which Chris and I met as they are great girls and it just seems so right to have the savoynet represented by them. The others are Chris's sister as I really want her to be involved and my 'honourary sister' Emily! I have no brothers and sisters of my own and Emily is a friends little girl (well I say little, she is about 12/13) and we are really close and everyone says we are like sisters......even our parents! The poor girl had a heart transplant at the age of 7 and I would gladly have given her my own heart if I had been able!!

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

I will be having a crystal tiara to go with my dress and hopefully one of mum's necklaces that I saw the other day when she was sorting out her jewlerry. It used to belong to her nana and is just sooo beautiful, it's a sort of twist design with aquamarine, lilac and baby blue stones in a silver setting........ok that description is crap but never mind!

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

Haven't got a clue about them yet to be honest!

    9. What is your colour scheme?

Lilac and dark purple, with maybe a little bit of white.

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

Don't know about bargains yet as have only just started planning, but as for advice.....

"Save money on what you can (i.e. get family to make invites/do flowers etc) so that you can afford to splash out on something really special"

    also

"If it won't overwhelm you, get information about everything (i.e. get all leaflets at wedding fairs) even if you don't think you'll want it, then if you change your mind you don't have a panic trying to get information or prices at the last minute!"

  • 1) 18 August, 2007 to Matt who I met when we were both graduate students (different subjects, same college). He proposed with a pair of the most gorgeous earrings while on holiday in Wales.

    2) Kirlington Park, Kirtlington, Oxfordshire

    3) Civil

    4) It is being made for me and is based on a 1930s Schiaparelli opera coat. I get to choose the material and finalise the design in February and can't wait!

    5) My brother, a professional photojournalist who does the most stunning portraits

6)1, my sister. Could have had four but decided trying to co-ordinate dresses for one in the States was more than enough, let alone three!

    7) Tiara, cathedral length veil, earrings he proposed to me with and my grandmother's gold watch. None of this is finalised, except the earrings.

    8) White, patent-leather Mary Janes from Kenneth Cole. I wore them for two out of four graduation ceremonies so they have a lot of emotional significance (they are my 'something old')

    9) Burgundy, cream and silver

    10) My photographer is my biggest bargain as he is free! Have receive too much good advice from all sides to remember any of it. Am just enjoying the planning and looking forward to being a wife.

Hi Everyone - I am loving all the replies - keep them coming. Getting lots of ideas too.

    1. I am getting married to Michael on 29th December 2006. We met through friends last July. The proposal came this May, after we had got back from a meal out. The subject came round to weddings... I said something like "you do know that I'd say yes if you were to ask me" - this wasn't a hint! - and so he asked me...

    2. We are getting married in Portmeirion, North Wales. It's my favourite place in the world, so I was really pleased when Michael found it as lovely as i do. We are then having a party on NYE in London at the Chapel Bar. 2 chances to wear my dress!

    3. Civil ceremony.

    4. I am having my dress made. It's going to be a gold silk skirt with a smallish train and a simple strapless bodice with a cuff. Since the wedding is in December, I am also having a silk jacket made from some gordeous pale olive embroidered silk.

    5. I am using a local photographer Nigel Hughes. He has photogrpahed loads of weddings in Portmeirion, and therefore knows the best places - especially as it will be dark when we get married!

    6. 2 Bridesmaids - Janet who has been my best pal since we were 12 (That's 18 years! YIKES!) and T who is a really close friend down in London. We've known each other for 5 years and she is just brilliant. My niece Rebecca is wearing a pretty dress and being a bridesmaid too - but she is only 2 so no pressure on her if she doesn't want to play ball on the day!

    7. I am wearing a goid collar with a leaf design, matching wrist cuff by Pilgrim. My headress is a gold wire and crystal headband/spray thing. (Really good at describing things aren't I?!)

    8. My shoes are gold and beaded design, a bit higher than I usually like, but I also have a pair of gold comfy shoes for the second party we are having.

    9. Green, gold and splashes of red.

    10. My shoes were £15 from Ebay! Best advice: relax and enjoy YOUR day.

  • 1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

Getting married on 31 August 2007 to Neal who I have been seeing for 5 years and living with for 3 years. We met at a do at a place where we both used to work but at different times - proposal was very unromantic - I wanted to get married and he finally agreed!!!

    2. Where are you getting married?

Ringwood Hall Hotel, Chesterfield. Went there for a meal yesterday and came home feeling so glad that we picked it - its beautiful and the staff were brilliant.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

Civil - all at the same place

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Yes its by Ronald Joyce - its a big one with diamontes on the bottom of the skirt - 3rd dress I tried on but loved it that much I knew I would not want anything else so ordered.

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

Yes - cant remember his name but he did a wedding of a friends a while back and offered us a friends discount!

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

I am having 3 bridesmaids, 2 friends who I met at college and have been friends with for 7 years now and my little sister who will be 6 when we are married - The girls are wearing burgundy but my sister is wearing the same colour as me!!

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

I want a mid length vail and tiarra

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

Havent got them yet but am thinking comfy flip flops ish shoes

    9. What is your colour scheme?

    Burgundy and cold

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

Think the hotel was a bargain - so looking forward to getting married outside just hope the weather is good.

I am getting married on 6/6/08 to harry. i am met him through email on a msg board site like this one but for general chat. he proposed to me at midnight on my birthday, we were in bed as i opened my presents.

i am getting married at cranstoun church just outside pathead, midlothian and our reception will be at the stair arms hotel also just outside pathead, 2 mins from the church.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

yes we are having a religious ceremony in the church with a candle of unity although neither of us are church goers.

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

no i havent chosen my dress yet as by the time it comes to my wedding there will be so many new designs so dont want to settle on something too early, however i am looking around.

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

i am having ron taylor of musselburgh to do my photos as he has been our family photographer for many years. and he still works with film, most phots now are done in digital.

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

i am having 2 bridesmaids, my best friend clare and my sis in law nicola. these 2 girls have been there for me through thick and thin and nicola is helpin me plan my big day. also having a flower girl, my youngest niece rebecca.

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

i dont have my dress yet so im not sure but i would like a girly tiara or hair piece, dont really fancy a veil.

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

wow my shoes! i want them to be purple and very sparkly under my dress to match my garter and fit in with my colour scheme.

    9. What is your colour scheme?

my colour scheme is purple. bridesmaids in purple with hot pink gerberas and guys in navy purple kilts.

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

the best piece of advice i have been given is to keep our ceremony guests to a small number so its more personal, i should have lots of time to socialise with everone on the day. and also whatever people say, its mine and h2bs wedding, have it our way or we could regret it.

    what a great post.

  • 1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

I'm marrying N, who I met through a mutual friend. He proposed over a cup of tea during a lazy Sunday morning in bed! We tentatively said we'd get married in May 07, but we've not sorted the venue out yet, so it looks like it may be later. We're not too stressed - we've been together for five years, so we don't need to rush at this!

    2. Where are you getting married?

Good question! We were going to get married in London, where we live. However, we were talking about the wedding this weekend, and realised that we'd both prefer a venue that's got more green space and room for the kids to run around. So, I'm now looking for a barn/country house somewhere near London.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

    Civil

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Pretty sure it'll be a Jenny Packham - Anna

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

    Not yet

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

One - my sister. If I was going to have more than just her, I'd have to have at least five in order to keep various people happy, which seemed a bit OTT for the simple ceremony we're planning!

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

Probably a single-tier, chapel length veil. I've not bought any jewellery yet, but I know I'll be wearing an aquamarine ring that belonged to my grandma as my "something old/blue"

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

They'll be flat and comfy. I'm tall, and I hate getting blisters!

    9. What is your colour scheme?

    Pale blues and lavender grey

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

"it's a wedding, not the invasion of Normandy!" In other words, don't stress yourself out over the tiny details

    hi everyone,

1)Im getting married to Tom on 31/5/08. We met at school and he proposed in bed just before we were going to sleep.

    2. Our ceremony is at St.Nicholas Church in Droitwich Spa and then on to St Andrews House Hotel.

    3. we are having a religious ceremony and i might ask the vicar to baptise our 3rd child at the same time.

    6. My sister volunteered herself to be bridesmaid. Will also have my two daughters and our third baby (due in March) depending on how much he/she can walk.

7.Ive got a cathedral length veil but im not sure about tiaras/ combs yet. as we have an ol hollywood theme i might get some gloves or a wrap to make my dress fit in a bit more.

8.Also a sticking point! Tom wants me to wear some high heels as i never do but i'll have to see how my balance is after the baby.

    9. Ivory and black. the venue has red carpet and table linen so there might be a bit of that too.

    10. I found some Julien Macdonald candles shaped like flowers in the clearance at Boots 4 for £1. I bought the last 6 boxes and realised she'd only charged me £4 for the lot!

Not sure on the good advice- everthing ppl say on here !

    1. I am getting married on 1st September 2007 to Rob who I met at school (I was 16). We will have been together for 10 years by the time we marry! He proposed in July this year whilst we were on holiday in Rome (v. romantic - see proposal stories log!)

    2. We are getting married in Christ Church, Erith (SE London) followed by a reception at Rowhill Grange, Dartford.

    3. Religious (it is a beautiful church!)

    4. My dress is from Berketex at Charing Cross. It is by Marc Le Carr and is called 'Josephine'. It is strapless with a long train and lots and lots of sparkle - the bodice has jewels, pearls and sequins - I absolutely LOVE it & cried when I put it on!!!

    5. Nigel Barrett because the reception venue recommended him & I loved the pictures on his website.

    6. 1 CBM (my sister), 2 bridesmaids (H2B's younger sisters) & 1 flowergirl (my neighbour's 2 year old because she will look just gorgeous in her little white dress!)

    7. Keeping it very simple because of the dress - diamond studs which H2B gave me on my birthday this year, diamond solitaire necklace (which I am told will be a wedding day gift from H2B!), hair comb with crystals and pearls and veil.

    8. No shoes yet! Really wanted some Emmy ones (that is what H2B calls me - Emy), but they are just too far over our budget. Am trying to cut back in other areas so I can persuade H2B that we can afford them!!

    9. Ivory & Gold.

    10. Potentially our cake - £300 for 5 tiers!!! (TBC!)

Best Advice: remember it is your day, don't do things because other people want you to.

This is great. Although feels very real now I've actually set it all out!!!!

  • Ok just figured how to do this easy im new to this internet thingy

    Heres mine.

    1) I'll be marrying Geraint on 22/07/07. We met at a works summer ball. He isnt a romantic guy but his proposal was...on a surprise trip to New York, while we were in The Rainbow Room.

    2) Cheshire

    3) its a church wedding

    4) My dress...yes, 1st thing i chose... its very nice =)

    5) struggled to find a photographer whose pics AND price i was happy with but this month booked a photographer who i've heard good things about from 3 different ppl.

    6) just 1 BM, easy choice... shes my bext friend

    7) tiara, a bit funky and modern looking made of crystals. Also have chosen a veil.

    8) Shoes...have decided on these but not actually bought them yet. From rainbow club, pointed toe, ivory with small crystals on.

    9) Gold

    10) Lots of bargains, best so far has to be my BM dress which a got for £48 (instead of £100). Also i have to give my free tiara a mention... it was a promotion the dress shop had on. A free tiara with every dress bought (and they had lots of choice). Oh and my BMs tiara was half price and thats gorgeous and v unsual.
  • Great thread! Here are my answers...

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

I am marrying Tom on 10/02/07. We met online and the proposal was short and sweet in a country pub just after we went to see a house that we wanted to buy.

    2. Where are you getting married?

    In Norfolk where we live

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

    Religious

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Yes, it's a Maggie Sottero, called Felicity with a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

A local chap who we instantly felt comfortable with and who agreed a very reasonable price given that we are having a very small wedding

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

My three best friends, all my age (28) - I always knew I would have them as my bridesmaids!

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

I'm wearing a beautiful long lace veil which my mother wore when she married my Dad 38 years ago

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

Very simple ivory ones with low heel (H2B not much taller than me!) from Rainbow Club

    9. What is your colour scheme?

Bridesmaids are in chocolate brown and cream

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

My dress! Was around £900 in shops but I decided early on I didnt want to spend a fortune on a dress... so I hunted high and low and found the exact dress I wanted being advertised by a lady who had bought it for her wedding but got pregnant and was no longer able to wear it for her wedding. I paid £300 for it even thought it was unworn! Bargain!image

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

Sometime late 2008 (hopefully saturday closest to 14th oct). To Nigel.

Officially met at a re-enactment in may 1995 - got together september the same year.

Actually met two years before that, at a friend's 18th birthday party, but i don't remember that meeting:\( (typically, he does!!)

    2. Where are you getting married?

Ceremony in County Durham, reception tbc, but Co Durham, Tyneside or Northumberland.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

    Methodist (very much not tea-total;\)).

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Sort of. Am making myself, and have sketched it, and decided on some details, but not actually picked fabric yet, so certain parts of it might change to suit the fabric. But the bits that are certain are a fitted bodice, with kind of ruched shoulder straps, lots of chiffon and tulle, a silk flower at the hip, and a vintage brooch (metal rose) at the side neckline, and hand embroidery in gold threads with pearls and crystals on the skirt.

Oh, and it'll be shades of dark red, with a bit of ivory chucked in (possibly as a kind of under-layer, under d red chiffon (???)

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

    yes, though not booked yet.

Alan Mason. Costs a frightening amount, but fell in love with his pictures. Have tried other photographers, but none have been as honest about pricing as him, and I keep comparing their pictures back to his and finding fault.

But as it's one of the most important thing to me, (only real lasting thig apart from rings and h2bimage), I'm prepared to cut back on other things to afford him. Plus, he keps winning wedding awards, and we get him as long as we like on the day, so I think it's worth it.

I'll be taking pics myself too though, just cos I like to.

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

One or two. Not 100% decided yet - but people I have in mind are reliable, and I can trust them. (Plus they know that if I'm a cow to them it's just because I've got something else on my mind...)

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

Nana's pearl necklace, with her gold locket attached (and pics of dad and grandad inside). Pair of red rose earrings. Hairband thingy (bit like a bridesmaids) with pearls and dark red paper roses.

If I can get them cheaply enough (ebay here I come), I might get some more sparkly stuff for the evening - still red though.

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

Not found them yet - keep changing my mind. Don't really care what they cost - they just have to be right, if you see what I mean. They could be 400 quid, they could be 14, but i have to know when I look at them that they're right.

    9. What is your colour scheme?

Sort of reds and gold - but not hard and fast - might chuck some other cols in there.

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

Bargain - only just started, but knickers!!image Got a pair of rigby and peller ones in a (dark red - surpise surprise) colour being discontinued. They were in the sale, and I had a discount voucher that gave me a fiver off and free postage. So they should have cost me 57, but actually cos 11.50.

Advice - find time on the day to go and spend half an hour alone with your new husband!! And don't sweat the small stuff. Organise everything in advance, then if something goes wrong on the day, just roll with it.

Great post Laurabell - love hearing everyone elses last detail!!

As you will see I'm VERY indecisive!

    1) I am getting married to Carlos in March 2008. We've been together 7 yrs and have 2 beautiful children, Maya 5 and Jay 3. We met at work and got together properly after he sacked me!! But it was quite romantic - I was a xmas temp & he was my manager so he didn't keep me on so we could be together (ahhh!). Sounds silly now but there was no proposal. We were just crazy about each other & talked about it a lot & both said we'd love to marry as felt we were meant to be even though we hadn't known each other too long, then when we found out I was pregnant a while after we just sort of decided to do it! But what with starting a family & buying our 1st home we were always too busy, (& too broke!) to think about it! So now after a 6 year engagement we are finally taking the plunge (solves the 7 year itch thing - hopefully!) We were supposed to be getting married on 15th sep 2007 but because of the honeymoon weather(everywhere that was ok in sep was too expensive!) we have decided to postpone it 6 months as in march we can take our pick of the caribbean/mexico etc. where we can get a cheaper deal.

2)Not booked a final date yet but we are are having the reception at the Ramada hotel in Watford, Hertfordshire where we live (on a friday as it's 10% off!)

3)Not sure yet! Reception venue is licensed for civil ceremony which would be more convenient but still like the idea of church wedding. However because of local church being a horrible new square building (definitlely NOT the pretty little church I always dreamed of!) it depends on wether it will be too much bother having to attend another for 6 months etc!

I have about 3 dress sizes I'd like to lose so can't even try any on yet:\( but can't wait til I do go shopping with my mum! I don't know how I'm going to choose I spend hours looking through magazines & I love them all! I think I'm going to try millions on to see what styles I like & suit me then go to a sample sale or something for a bargain!

5)Well....I've seen one I LOVE at the national wedding show but packages are about £2500image beautiful pics though so well worth it if u have it - unfortunately I don't! I haven't had a proper look yet til I book a date but I have seen another I like in a magazine who is a more reasonable £950. I want reportage style.

6)of course the prettiest little flowergirl & most handsome little pageboy EVER! Also my 2 best friends for 16 years as bridesmaids

7)jewellery depends on the dress I choose but something simple & borrowed from my mum or nan. I definitely want a veil but was adamant I didn't want a tiara... untill trying a veil on (which was stunning untill I asked the price - £250 then it lost its appeal!) at wedding show the assistant put a tiara on to show me with the veil and I fell in live with it! I have very thick dark hair which I'm wearing up so want something VERY sparkly!

8)haven't got any yet but they will be killer heels! (i'm only 5ft need all the help I can!)

9)pink (for my daughter) and Ivory. She has a beaded ivory tulle dress and the 2 bridesmaids have a mauve shade of pink. I was going to match everything with hints of pink but have decided to just have ivory at the reception as the carpets are red/blue (as everywhere I've seen!) so don't want it all to clash!

10)biggest bargain - bridesmaids dresses. £20 each from TKMaxx!!!! They are long strapless A-line style thick satin with a lace up style back which sort of parts at the back (obviously with more material underneath! ) They are very simple but pretty and although I hate saying mauve as it conjours up images of old ladies bedrooms it's actually a lovely shade - definitely pink not lilac!

  • Love reading all of these but they are making me more and more excited!!!! image

When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

I am getting married to Damian next November 16th which will be our 3rd anniversary of being together! We met on a blind date set up by an old work colleague of mine who is also Damian's best friend and will be one of his two best men!

Damian took me to Bruges for a romantic weekend away and proposed there. He organised a champagne picnic on the Eurostar as we travelled there. The next morning he proposed at a place called Minnewater, known as 'The Lake of Love'. After the proposal we went for an 8 course champagne breakfast and spend much of the rest of the day rolling in and out of diamond boutiques!!

    Where are you getting married?

    In Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

    Civil.

Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

Not yet but I love one by Stephanie Allin for One & Only called Casablanca so am hoping to buy that one!

Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

Not yet, my sister who is one of my bridesmaids is a professional photographer but we wanted her to enjoy the day and not be busy running around snapping our guests. She has been given the role of helping recruit one!!

How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

2 bridesmaids - my 2 sisters - and then 3 flowergirls who are Damian's nieces. It was a tough choice so I am asking other 'contenders' to do readings and one other good friend is going to sing for us at our reception - he was a cabaret singer!!

What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

Not sure. I have shortish hair and quite like the idea of having tiny flowers and crystals woven into my hair.

    Tell me about your shoes!

Well I am not much shorter than my groom so I won't be wearing killer heels!! I am an absolute shoe addict though so they will be pretty special and I might have some specially made.

    What is your colour scheme?

Cream, chocolate and a touch of duck egg blue.

What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

My mum used to be a florist and so she is doing most of my flowers herself - so a massive saving!!! As well as our 'cabaret friend' we are also having an amazing singer who is one of my sister's best friends and so a big saving there too!

Happy planning and thanks for a great link!

    1. 15 July 2009, seems like so far away, to Rob. We actually met at college and we eventually became best mates. I went to live abroad for a year after we had known each other 4 years and when I got back we realised we missed each other too much to "just be friends" and it just grew from there.

He proposed earlier this year on Scarborough seafront.

    2. We think at Ox Pasture Hall in Scarborough

    3. Civil, it was going to be church but there were too many hoops to jump.

    4. Not yet

    5. No, although a friend who is a photographer has offered to do them but not sure whether I would want them to in case we did not like the result.

    6. 3, all of them my younger sisters who will be 17 and the twins 12 at the wedding. No chief bridesmaid as such as I dont really have any close friends due to moving around so much and my job, hence why I have my sisters.

    7. Must start thinking about this!!

    8. And this too!!

    9. Mostly white with hint of red

    10. Its your day, do what makes you happy and stop thinking about what others want or expect.

  • 1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like? We are getting married on the 5th May 2007 to Keith. We met on a dating site online called LoopyLove and the proposal was on the 1st December 2005 and we had been shopping for christmas gifts when I had my finger sized for a ring (just a normal ring so i thought) but when we got home he got down on one knee and proposed.

    2. Where are you getting married? We are getting married in our local church which is really quaint

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony? Religious

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like? My dress is gorgeous (but unfortunately not on the designers site) I have chosen Brooke by Raylia

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why? Yes we have our photographer. We popped into his studio on the off chance and he simply wowed us. We felt comfortable and at ease with him.

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them? I am having four bridesmaids. My sister, Keith's sister, and Keith's two nieces. I chose them because they are family

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing? I am wearing a pearl necklace for my something borrowed, tiny pearl and crystal earrings, my nans saphire dress ring as my something blue and a crystal and rose tiara and my mums veil which is my something old.

    8. Tell me about your shoes! I haven't gotten my shoes yet but I like some from the Rainbow Club which are perfect for what I want

    9. What is your colour scheme? Blue white and silver

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given? Biggest bargain is the tiara's. Five tiara's for £90

  • I Just joined yesterday and this is a great idea for a thread

    1. When are you getting married and who to? WHere did you meet and what was the proposal like?

Im getting married on the 20th July 2007 to Chris. We have known each other for about 15 years because i went to school with his little brother and best man Michael. We've been together now for 6 1/2 years and i proposed to him and then vise versa when he bought me my ring it was a one on one affair we kept it simple.

    2. Where are you getting married?

We are getting married in a small village five minute from us in Dumfries Scotland called Kirkton its our local church and it beautiful surroundings.

    3. Are you having civil or religious ceremony?

Because its in a church its religious but not to much.

    4. Have you chosen your dress? If so - what is it like?

I have chosen my dress and it ivory with coloured detail on the top of the bodice and on the side of the skirt. Its strapless which i never thought i would go for but i really suit with a balero jacket and long veil.

    5. Have you chosen a photographer? Who and why?

My photographer is Catherine Lockerbie, she is local to me and really nice. She did a friends wedding and i saw the photos which were great so i called and she had the date free so great!!!!

    6. How many brides maids are you having? WHo are they and why did you choose them?

    Im having 2 bridesmaids.

    7. What jewellery/hair accessories are you wearing?

My mum wants me to wear pearls and something simple with my hair as its quite long and a sparkely veil.

    8. Tell me about your shoes!

Flat!!! Im 5ft 11" and dangerous on my feet so dont want to fall flat on my face and be taller than Chris.

    9. What is your colour scheme?

    Burgandy, Gold and Ivory.

10.What is the biggest bargain you have found or best piece of advice you have been given?

Have a budget im mind for your dress it really helps if you dont want to go over board. I went to 2 shops and i loved the first dress i tried on but it was 1200. i had thought no more than 700 but my mum said if you want it go for it. We went to the second shop and fell in love with the dress i chose and its costing me 600 all in the expensive dresses are not always what they crack up to be.

    that was brillimage
