hi 11nov. hate to dissappoint you but she didn't do her own make-up. I am a professional make-up artist and can tell when it has been done by a fellow make-up artist. I looked at her style that she normally does and it is different. She uses a lot of eye pencils which do not last all day without touch-ups, and for her wedding it was obvious that coloured powders such as eyeshadows were used in place of pencils and her eyebrows were shaped high and wide compared to how she normally does them. This was done by a pro - believe me. She also had subtle highlighted areas on the cheeks and it was all too even for someone who just did it for themselves. I was a bit peed off that the artist didn't get a credit - or the hairstylist for that matter.
The hair stylists did - they were interviewed early in the morning of the wedding before going to the hotel were Kate and her family were to talk about it, same hairdressers she always uses: Richard Ward and James Pryce.
She has been reported to have gotten makeup lessons in the lead up to the wedding so she could do it herself on the day, and presumably got her eyebrows professionally shaped and tinted. I'm no pro but surely if she had makeup lessons with top artists in advance she'll have learnt their techniques and bought the correct products?
Surely with the press are consistently reporting she did it herself, any makeup artist that did do it would correct them!
The hairstylist did get credit and was on BBC for about 10-15mins. I heard beforehand that she was going to do her own make up, she did it for the engagement shots so whose to say she did do it herself? The hair stylist got plenty of credit as did everyone else, so why wouldn't they credit someone?
Not to say there aren't some stunning professionals but I've had a few trials and been disapointed with them all and think I do a much better job myself! It would be a shame to discredit her and put everyone off who is doing their own without evidence!
I stand corrected girls. I didn't get to hear or see the whole thing as I too was doing a huge wedding in South London, so we only had it on in the background. She must definately have had tuition though. It was remarkabley different to how she normally has it and she must have had to do some touch-ups in between the different segments of her wedding. Unlike most weddings, she would have had time to prepare herself for the photographs etc. I'm not trying to big my profession up - but only to suggest that it isn't always as easy as one thinks to do it yourself.
i def dont think it is easy but i had a mac trial and got a lot of tips from the girl doing it and left that armed with a ton of products and a mac face chart! also check out makeupgeek.com. it is amazing!! spent as much on my products as a prof would cost me but getting married abroad so did not want to risk the spa at my hotel being awful!! and also have loads of new gorgeous make up!!
been practising like crazy too!!
2 weeks to go ahhhhhhh
well done to kate!
Apparently she had a pro for her engagement shoot and ended up washing it all off because she hated it and decided then to do it herself for the wedding.
She had several lessons with makeup artist Arabella Preston before the wedding and she was at the Bobbi Brown counter in the Kings Road the week before the wedding, buying a few products and told the MUA there it was her wedding makeup.
I personally prefer her makeup the way she does it normally on a day to day basis. I thought her eyebrows were too strong and the eyes too dark on the wedding day. She still looked stunning though.
