Hi newlyweds...congratulations!!

We have 45 days to go and are looking for 2 readings for a civil ceremony have looked around on web and in a couple of books. They are either too mushy which is fine but some really quite sickly or I've already heard them at someone elses wedding.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks x

We had 4 readings, but I think my favourite the one below. A close couple of friends read it verse at a time.

    READING NO.8

Come with me, go with me

Burn with me, glow with me

Write me a sonnet or two

Sleep with me, wake with me

Give with me, take with me

Love me the way I love you.

Let me get high with you

Laugh with you, cry with you

Be without you when I am blue

Rest with you, fight with you

Day with you, night with you

    Love me whatever I do.

Work with me, play with me

Run with me, stay with me

Make me your partner in crime

    Handle me, fondle me

    Cradle me tenderly

Say I'm your reason and rhyme.

Pray with me, sin with me

Love with me, win with me

Love me with all of my scars.

Rise with me, fall with me

Hide from it all with me

Nothing is mine now - its ours.

We had chapter one of one thousand...

    By O.J.Preston

For two people this dawn brought on a magical day

Now husband and wife they head on their way

As a boat setting sail may their journey begin

With calmest of waters, most helpful of wind

And if they should stumble upon turbulent sea

May it pass them unharming - leave them be.

For here are two people whom love has well bitten

Here opens their book which has yet to be written

As the first page unfolds and their life inks its path

May it write a true story where forever love lasts

Let their journey be happy till death do they part

Of one thousand chapters may this be the start.

We had a church ceremony but were allowed this non religious reading

    Destiny

    ~ Edwin Arnold

Somewhere there waiteth in this world of ours

For one lone soul another lonely soul

Each choosing each through all the weary hours

And meeting strangely at one sudden goal.

Then blend they, like green leaves with golden flowers,

    Into one beautiful and perfect whole;

And life's long night is ended, and the way

Lies open onward to eternal day.

Good luck with your final preparations and the big day.

    Married life is great.

    We had

    Love Is The Reason

Love is the reason why this day was chosen by you both to begin your lives together

and love is the reason why you both will give with all hearts for the good of each other.

    Love is the reason that together you will become one; one in hope;

one in believing in life; one in sharing the coming years.

    As one of our readings.

We were stuck between that and these two

    Love

Love cannot be defined in one single term,

It cannot be taught and cannot be measured.

It should always be handled carefully,

An eternal and precious gift to always be

    Treasured.

Love is fickle, love is kind,

It can only be bought by the heart.

    Love sometimes makes you suffer,

It makes you cry when you are apart.

You cannot help who you love,

Nor can you make one love another.

    Love is gentle and caring,

As is the love of a loving brother.

    It cannot be taken lightly,

Those who pretend have much to learn.

    Pompous airs accomplish nothing,

In the long run there's nothing in return.

One may die or one may leave,

    Leaving others in despair.

But true love will never end, As long as both continue to care.

So you get a taste of love, It's gentle, kind and fair.

    It's eternally remembered...

    Lifting spirits when in despair.

    Reddy Fox

    Where there is love

Where there is love the heart is light,

Where there is love the day is bright,

Where there is love there is a song,

To help when things are going wrong

Where there is love there is a smile

To make all things seem more worthwhile,

Where there is love there's quiet peace,

    A tranquil place where turmoil's cease -

    Love changes darkness into light

And makes the heart take "wingless flight".

    Helen Steiner Rice

Our other two readers found the readings themselves.

Hope you find something you like.

    Best wishes.
