    Flowers I like...

Just thought I'd make a list of all the flowers I've seen that I like! Some are obviously expensive so I don't want them (budget is everything) but they're the kind of look I like and alternatives can be found I'm sure!

    Sunflowers

    Gypsophilia

    Craspedia

    Peonies

    Marigolds

    Lupin

    Hydrangeas

    Ranunculus

    Viburnum

    Veronica

    Chrysanthemum

    Wisteria

    Gerberas

And then some of the foliage I like includes

    Eucalyptus

    Bay

    Ivy

    Fern fronds

    Cutlery hire..

Still umming and ahhing. I know it's a needless expense when we're trying so hard to cut corners in other areas of the budget but I just love gold cutlery and I have this really irrational hatred of the colour silver. I've had a quote from crosby hire so we'll see if we can save money elsewhere and then decide.

    42x main forks - £11.20

    42x main knives - £11.20

    42x dessert forks - £11.20

    42x dessert spoons - £11.20

    168 x washing up charge - £11.76

    20% VAT - £11.31

    TOTAL - £67.87

I made some shrinky dink place names! They're perfectly imperfect and I love that about them.

Your inspiration ideas from the fayre are all lovely, I really like the hoops they shouldn't be too hard to recreate, love your place names too.

I made one of our wedding signs! It's going to be mounted on an easel with foliage around  it :)

I'm going to make a matching one with the order of the day on it, and some small ones to go in copper frames for like the guest book and confetti and stuff.

If anyone wants any of these by the way they're super quick and fun to make I'd be happy to do em for anyone willing to pick them up from my house in Leeds for like £5 to cover supplies .

£10 to make this! I'm pretty proud of this to be honest :)

That hoop is fabulous! As is your sign. You’re so talented!

    Looks fab!

Thanks guys! I just can't believe how cheap and easy it was to make, it'd be like 10x that cost at least, to have it made professionally and it looks great!

    Honeymoon...

So matty is taking the lead on this because he LOVES travel and the research and booking with holidays but at the minute we're thinking of either :

    Peru

    Sri Lanka

    Mexico

We want a boutiquey little hotel, no high rise block hotels. On the beach. Lots of restaurants and bars around. All inclusive for a week. We want the option to go on excursions or do activities a couple days but mostly we just want to laze around!

We've set a budget of 2.5k for it.

  • Sian91Sian91 Posts: 829 New bride

For all inclusive for a week, I expect Mexico would be the easiest!

Sri Lanka looks stunning but the route im dreaming of is nearer 3 weeks and definitely not inclusive lazing- there looks like there’s so much to do!

  • I’ve been to Mexico - youll find plenty of lush hotels there, only thing I’ll mention is I remember you saying your planning to maybe have another baby after the wedding? If you go to Mexico, you’ll have to put off trying for at least 6 months after you return because of the Zika virus - obviously if you’re not planning #2 straight away then you’ll be fine but just thought I’d mention it :)

ive heard amazing things about sri lanka (no Zika) and the pictures I’ve seen are amazing x

Ooh I didn't think of that! Should be OK though I can wait 6 months probably and still fit the time line!

    Decor ...

    So I bought some things!

This is our wedding breakfast room

    image

You can see the type of chairs we'll have and they're the same that we'll have for our ceremony so the florist is providing foliage for the back row of the ceremony, and I've bought some ribbon to tie into simple bows on the backs. I may find something cute to hang from the bow between now and the wedding but I'm not going to actively look.

    imageimageimage

If you can see towards the back of the room there's a balcony (stairs go down to the kitchen) so I've got these little rose gold balloons (they're only 16" tall) to fill with helium and tie along the balcony spelling out JUST MARRIED :) we've also got 5 rectangular guest tables with like long displays so I've also bought balloons that say M & H to go along each of them!

    Accessories...

So I've messaged this woman from etsy who's going to be making my floral crown and she says that more is more when it comes to detail so I've drawn a picture of what I've got in my head, here it is!

Did you get the balloons from eBay? I'm following some on there but wondered if you found a good deal elsewhere?

Oh and LOVE the floral crown, amazing drawing!

Yeah eBay! I've bought them before in gold for my son's first birthday party and they were great!

Thanks, they are exactly the same but much cheaper than the ones I was looking at :)

  • AwhelenqtAwhelenqt Posts: 856 New bride

Home bargains is AMAZING for wedding stuff! I got faux peonies and hydrangeas and roses and they look great and were so cheap and they sell packs of table confetti and they're so full for like nothing! I got 2 packs of copper shiny and gold glitter circle confetti and there's enough for all 5 guest tables and our sweetheart table. I also got a few of those bauble tea light holders.

They just had so so much stuff for like no money it  was great and I've already started on the next craft at wedding HQ

    imageimage

Obviously I need to add more flowers but it's late and I'll also wind some ivy and fairy lights around the hoop and eventually I'll hang Polaroids from it for our guests to look at

    UPDATE

    More flowers!

    Suppliers...

We've officially chosen to go with Claire as our photographer! She said she'll do the exact package  we wanted for 1200 because she'll be easing herself back into work after maternity. She's sent over the contracts  so I'm just needing to sign and and them back.

We've also chosen to go with ruby Tuesday as our florist! (Letting Hollie from fleur couture down was horrible and I would still highly recommend anyone to go with her. What a lovely woman)

I just thought about it and they don't have a minimum spend and we're actually getting more for our money from her and she's already going to be putting the paper cranes up in the barn beams outside (literally the only company I contacted who would do it) so it just made sense!

Karen at Ruby Tuesday is my on the day coordinator, she’s so lovely!

She is literally so lovely! Our first email exchange was when I was really drunk and don't remember it at all haha but she thought it was funny and then when we met her in person at the fayre it just felt like that was it! We get on so well like we just chit chat she's great!

    The venue...

I've just realised I don't have photos on here of High House??

    So here are some!

Ceremony space/where we'll have the bouncy castle and disco in the evening.

    image

The area between the barn on the left and that little play house shed on the right is where the bouncy castle will go.

    image

There will be 1000 paper cranes strung from the beams in yellow, orange, red, gold and pastel pink. The hoop I've made will hang at the end in front of the sky behind where we'll say our vows. The chairs as I've mentioned previously will have colourful ribbon bows except the back row which will have foliage. At the beginning of the aisle on either side will be the copper pipe raisers with floral displays on top (they'll get moved after the ceremony, one onto our sweetheart table and not sure about the other) and yellow rose petals scattered by our flower babies down the aisle.

    image

Where that table is far right there will be a terrarium filled with paper fans in case people get hot, a gold wire basket for cards and a copper metal bucket filled with confetti my mum and I are making, and stripey yellow and white paper bags to put it in.*

Aalso either side of the entrance from the car park to the courtyard (where the photographer is standing) will be the signs I've made welcoming to the wedding and the order of the day.

    image

There's gonna be foliage all up the banisters and at the top of the stairs will be a gold framed mirror on an easel covered  in foliage and one of those see through frames I mentioned previously from the fayre in front of it directing people to the bar.

    imageimageimage

Here's the reception area for the wedding breakfast!

    image

    And the bar

    imageimage

    * my mum and I have been drying out flower petals for a while now and we've already got loads!

Bought 24 random coloured fans for the ceremony in case the guests get hot. We have 40 guests coming but I'm not made of money they can share hahaha

You know what's funny about your venue? My OH and I stayed there a couple years ago for my 21st birthday and I got my period and it was the last one I got before falling pregnant with my son so for a really bizarre reason, the copthorne is significant to me haha i also got really drunk and tried to have sex in the stair well but he wasn't having any of it loool it's beautiful though and the rooms overlooking the river are gorgeous!
