Cake delivery drama

hi all

we just found out that our baker doesn't do deliveries. We have 6 cakes to transport to our venue the morning before our wedding when neither of us are available. Does anyone know of any companies that would deliver in the south west?

any I have found say we will do it but we accept no responsibility for how it shows up!

gah!

Oh dear, can you rope in a family member to collect it? Or a member of your bridal party?

I second Jenni8's suggestion. You'd be surprised how many bakers and florists don't have delivery (or don't deliver out of a certain area). Typically, family and friends get roped into making the pick up and delivery. If you ask someone to do it, my suggestion would be to ask them to bring just ONE, and make sure it's a pair of guests - one to drive, and one to hold the cake box (or sit next to it in the backseat and steady it). Yes, this means that it's going to take several people, but I think this is the safest way to ensure their delivery.

Even if you found a courier, unless for some odd reason they actually specialise in this kind of thing, they probably aren't going to be any better at this (and probably worse) than your guests.

How unfortunate they didn't tell you this in the first place!
