how much is your DJ costing? (especially london area)
Hello
next on my list is finding a DJ but I realise I don't really know how much to expect to pay? We want the standard after dinner disco probably from about 9pm to midnight.
how much is everyone paying? i'm especially interested in any answers from brides getting married in London as I know things tend to be more expensive here!
thanks

Any tips on finding a cheaper one? What makes a DJ good anyway other than just playing the right sort of stuff?
We are paying £365 for ours and thats from 5.30 - midnight (we're having an early wedding) - we are just outside of London - in Kingston.
The company we are using is called Spotlight Entertainments and we saw them whilst at a wedding fayre.

The website is really dated but when I spoke to them they were very helpful and friendly.

Anyone else able to recommend a reasonably priced London DJ?
I am in London and my H2B and I are paying for the DJ at his brother's wedding on Friday (our wedding pressie to them) the DJ we are using has come by recommendation and apparently he is fab. Anyway he is going to play low key music through the meal and then a disco from about 7pm until midnight and all for £250. I think he'll go all over London as we're in Enfield but the woman who recommended him was at a wedding in Canary Wharf.
I'll try and find out the name for you
thanks all, any other recommendations very welcome.
Elle80, thank you, I will check back next week then!
thanks again all.
The company, Innovents, also have although packages that are cheaper/for smaller weddings.

It is not about what you pay. It is about the standard of service you expect. A terrific DJ with great lighting does not play a great value for a budget price because they don't need to. You will get what you pay for.
Hi Folks, wow, It really does vary a lot. We paid £395, but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for most of the time! I think the difference in cost mostly comes down to how professional {full time/part time/insurance/booking contracts/electrical safety checks/official website...} the DJ is, the amount of time/hrs needed and the quality and choice of the equipment which is supplied. My husband and I got married in Spring of this year {2015}. A truly wonderful day! We were told that the DJ had to have at least ten million pounds worth of PLI cover and a valid PAT certificate. We searched Google for potential DJ's as we wanted something a little more unique and stylish than what was being offered by the venue. We found Wedding DJ Cheshire www.wedding-dj-cheshire.co.uk who looked and sounded like just what we were looking for. We emailed them and received a reply back within a few hours. Daniel the owner, who is also the DJ could not have been more professional, helpful and friendly. His knowledge and choice of music is exceptional. He happily accepted our Top 30 playlist in advance, and actually played every track on the night! He also tailored the rest of the evenings music to our personal tastes, which complemented the evening perfectly. The sound and lighting were superb with a rotating mirror ball being the icing on the cake! All his equipment is of the highest quality and looks like it is brand spanking new. We opted to book the full premium package. We also booked a few additional hours to have an early set-up, this included the use of wireless microphones and their sound system for speeches and also a lovely selection of classy, relaxing background music for the Wedding Breakfast. We would highly recommend Daniel and Wedding DJ Cheshire to anyone looking to book a first-class DJ. Hope this helps! Lara x.
