Ours was £1500 - which came as a bit of a shock to be honest, as our entire quote for hiring for ceremony and reception and wedding breakfast and buffet only came to about £2000, but at least this way we know we have already paid off the majority of this part.

Our deposit is set as this by the venue, whether you have a £2000 wedding or a £20,000 wedding not on a percentage basis.

Our was similar to minkymoolou, £1000 which is a set price no matter how much your total cost. However they did let us pay it in two instalments over two months as it was a bit of a shock!

£2000 - which was a shock! They wanted a percentage of overall cost ans an extra £10 per head.

25% or £1,500 but that was for the most basic cost per head (60 people minimum) and doesn't include drinks with meal or champagne reception so it's not 25% of what the total will end up as!

Ours was £500 fixed deposit and then 90% of the total cost three weeks before the wedding which was about £2000. We pay the remainiong balanace after the wedding when drinks can be accounted for etc, but our deposit will come out of that.
