Do I buy the accessories before the dress?

I haven't started dress shopping yet, but have an idea of what I would like. However I have come across the most stunning necklace & hair accessory combo. and was wondering whether to risk getting them, before I have got my dress.

Would it be silly to style the dress around the accessories?

This is what I am looking at:

and probably these as my shoes, as me & H2B are the same height.

  • If your really love them then why not. I had a look ate your accessories and they are exactly the same style that I have been looking at but I have got mine much cheaper via www.weddingandbaby.co.uk

It is the bracelet I am going for and it is only £32! with them. I am sure if you contacted them they would have the brooch and necklace available too. I am off to ask that question too! image

Here is the bracelet I mean http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.443454564408.217849.52939309408#!/photo.php?fbid=10150389023774409&set=a.443454564408.217849.52939309408&type=1&theater

I'm doing exactly the same! Had a necklace delivered this morning from Glitzy Secrets that I LOVE (although got it on ebay for a great price!) and still haven't found my dress! I figure, I'll get them while I see them, and can always sell them on if they don;t end up matching my dress.

I'd be a little cautious of styling the dress around the accessories. IMO it's hard enough finding THE dress let alone finding one to meet an accessory issue! image

I would suggest that it's easier to buy accessories to suit a dress rather than the other way around. You wouldn't want to fall in love with a dress, only for the accessories to be a mis-match...I guess it depends on which is more important to you - if you've fallen completely in love with the accesories and have an idea of the kind of dress you want, then I guess it's a win win situation! image

Noooooo!! I only say that because I had picked out some gorgeous jewellery from Yarwood White that was pearl and Swarovksi crystal and I bought my ivory shoes from Crystal Bridal Accessories (which I think is a brilliant site). I fully decided I was having an ivory dress.

Then I went shopping for my dress and it turned out the dress I wanted was white and had no pearl detail in it, so pearl jewellery wouldn't have matched. Luckily, I hadn't bought it. I later got a Swarovski necklace that suits my dress perfectly. I've had my shoes dyed as well. image

    Thanks ladies!

I have decided the right thing is to stay put for now, I can be quite inclined to make implusive decisions...not always best!

However I have bought my earrings instead, they're from M&S and cost a tenner!

I saw them a while ago and immediately thought "I want those for my wedding day". They're so sparkly which is just what I want (being a magpie!). Just a little glimmer when I swish my hair hehe!
