Ghost bridesmaid dresses

Has anyone had Ghost bridesmaid dresses? I think they look beautiful but am a little concerned about fit on those like me who aren't six foot tall and a size 8 (for anyone reading who is: rock it - so jealous!). Has anyone been to the store in London for an appointment?

I know Hails' bridesmaid dresses are from ghost so she may be able to help you xx

Thanks @MrsNolan2017 - I was sure someone mentioned having them recently but a quick search just brought up haunted venue stories!

Hello! Yes my bridesmaids are wearing beautiful pale blue Ghost dresses. My sister is a size ten and 5ft 3, my other bridesmaid is tall and willowy but they both look great. Ghost dresses are very long, so mine are both getting them taken up by a local seamstress who is a specialist in bridal and bridesmaid. They are the kind of dresses which don't look much on the hanger but fab when on and aren't typical bridesmaid dresses which are tight at the waist and then flare out, which really didn't suit my sister.

Are you near London? John Lewis in Oxford street stocks them, so I went with my sis and she tried a couple on in navy and gold.

But these weren't the right colours. I stalked the ghost website and got two in pale blue and two in sage in the sale, I also got 10% off as it was my first order. We then tried them on and they both preferred the blue. In terms of size, they were both a medium.

I just did a Google to find an example and looks like there is a sale on! This is the colour of my dresses but the style is different

Here are some pics of real women in them:

Hi, my bridesmaids wore Ghost dresses but I bought them from a bridal store and not from London.  I did speak with the London store a few times and booked an appointment to take the girls, they were really lovely on the phone and helpful but in the end I didn't need the appointment.

The fit on the dresses are hard to explain, my sister was in the long dress (Salma) in a size 12 - she is 5'9 - the dress was ridiculously long on her, like no one would be that tall to wear it! even with heels so we had it altered to fit and kept it long at the back so that she has a little train.

My other bridesmaids wore the Chloe dress - one was in a 12 and one was in a size 8, they both needed to be altered to bring the neckline higher as their bras were on show.  The alterations in total cost £80 which I didn't think was too bad at all! they looked absolutely beautiful and wore the dresses in Skylight colour.

Stunning, I can't wait to see my girls in theirs when they are altered!

    They will look beautiful Hails!

Also to mention, the material is absolutely beautiful, they feel expensive (because they are!!! lol!!) but you know what I mean, like they are beautiful quality. They move so elegantly as well. I loved my bridesmaid dresses so so much and never regretted buying them. xx

Yes - it's heavy material so doesn't cling in all the wrong places like cheaper dresses do! The one I ordered has a separate lining too.

Hails and MrsG2bxx - thank you so much! That's exactly the sort of info I needed. I have a while to go yet but really don't want to drag my bridesmaids round the shops multiple times if I can help it and thought the Ghost dresses would tick every box if they're easily altered for different shapes. Both your dress choices look beautiful! Ghost do such gorgeous colours.

    When is the wedding?

  • msdcmsdc Posts: 14

June 2018! But I'm having a nice weekend for the girls to meet and for my Mum to meet them in a few weeks, so if we can tick off 'those are probably the dresses' then it means I can either organise one trip later on if they want or leave them to sort themselves out at a time of their choosing. I must say I think I've been ever so lucky with my bridesmaids, they've both been so lovely, but I really don't want to take the mick with their time!

I would be tempted to order some on credit card seeing as though they are in the sale and get them to try them on.

  • msdcmsdc Posts: 14

Hails you may actually be magic! I just wrote quite a lengthy response about unfortunately the colour I want not being in the sale (woe, woe), thought I'd quickly double-check before replying by looking up the colour directly rather than scrolling the sale page and lo-and-behold there they are!

  • HailsHails Posts: 2,455

They are rarely on sale so go for it! What colour you after? John Lewis have about 30% off

  • msdcmsdc Posts: 14

Chilli Red - they've only got a couple of styles available in that colour but might as well give it a whirl! Let's see if I can do a photo:

Oh wow that red is stunning!

Are they still doing the first order discount? My code wouldn't work when I bought them but customer service were great and applied it retrospectively.

Wow! that red is amazing! I hope you get the dresses they are well worth the money xx

It's lovely, isn't it? I'm not all that fussed about colour theme - some of the threads on here are so beautiful, I am in awe! - but I fell in love with that red and haven't found anything quite like it elsewhere so such good news you've both had good experiences with their dresses!

  • HailsHails Posts: 2,455

Red is so different, I love it.

I am going to have to find some extra money in my budget because now all I want for my BM are these dresses haha

I was concerned due to the models in them usually being very tall and slim, and as one of my BM, my sister, is around 5ft, size 10-12, very curvy with big bust and hips but tiny waist and the other is around 5'8 and again very curvy, size 14-16ish, and big busted, I didnt know if they would suit, but seems these dresses will still be ok on them!

Unfortunately having got over the first flush of excitement I don't think either of the dresses in that colour on sale will work - thin straps or feature back, which would be a no from me when shopping - but I am definitely sold on their dresses! So pretty. Fingers crossed the girls love them too! Thanks very much ladies! 🥂

Sadieee - if you're not in a rush I'm happy to update this thread after we've tried on? One of my bridesmaids is very similar in shape to me, shortish and super hourglass, the other is an ex-model so bit of a difference! Both are the nicest ladies you could hope to meet though, I could stick them in orange and pink taffeta and they'd say 'how lovely' so I might have to bully them into being honest about the frocks!

I'm short with a big bust and hips and I tried one on - it was v flattering!

That would be great! In no rush at all, wedding is Dec 2018, just trying to decide what we want so I can just get them whenever they go in sale, and of course with 18 months to go I know there will be other sales :) Thank you!

I follow RMW on Facebook and they just posted this: http://www.rockmywedding.co.uk/abi-craig/?utm_source=Facebook

Sadieee - oh my goodness they are such lovely dresses! Both my bridesmaids found dresses which looked beautiful on them, so that's me sold! They are *ridiculously* long though. Going to the shop in London was well worth it - we made an appointment and they have a nice separate area with all their styles (although not all styles in all the available colours, but that wasn't an issue).

One thing I'd say if you visit the store would be check the details on the dress tag - some of the colours available in dye-to-order are slightly different from the off-the-shelf colour equivalent - I specifically asked for the Chilli Red and we were given dresses to try in both that and the Poinsettia, which is a slightly brighter red.

Msdc which ones did you opt for?

  • msdcmsdc Posts: 14

Hails I'm not sure how I missed your question, my apologies! Both the ladies chose the Sylvia dress, and it's beautiful on them both. So happy and they seem to be too!
