Could you try and buy a sample? Perhaps call around all stockists to see if any have one close to your size? I’ve just bought my dress and it was £3300 from the designer but I got the sample for £2300 with minimal alterations and cleaning needed. A lot of designers have their new ranges coming out soon ready for spring so I’d imagine a lot of shops will sell samples / have sample sales ready to get new stock in.

  • Yes I've tried getting it cheaper that way but so far to no avail- I still have time for a month or two yet as don't get married until next July but I have my heart set on this dress in my size now! Arrrrgh! X

Contact the designer and ask if they can tell you where has your dress in your size (or a size up or down that could be altered).

  • Does the store offer any discount if you pay the full cost upfront? I got 5% off for doing that.

How much over budget is it? At the end of the day, if you love it and don't think anything else will match up to it, then go for it. Weddings are so expensive that really, spending an extra few hundred pounds doesn't actually make much of a difference and you'd rather be the happiest you can be on the day, and not have any regrets for the sake a bit of extra money. Obvs if it's way over budget, then I understand, but honestly you're the one probably doing all the planning and all the decision making and shouldering all the stress that weddings cab bring, so don't sell yourself short on something that you love! You deserve it!
