  • Wow thanks hun x
  • Thanks again Shiv for all your hard work and the new thread (much needed).

Lotty-wow your wedding is coming around so quickly, the monsoon dress looks fab-i really need to start my dress shopping soon.

Looked at E&L for the wedding insurance along with a few others with el being cheapest, Shiv where did u hear about reports of people having difficulties with them?

Tasha-so glad they were able to sort out new dates so u dont end up paying more to stay the same amount of time, thought that would have been one of their first suggestions but at least its sorted now.

Does anyone know if Daniel is back in Mauritius? I had an email from him just after Christmas saying he would get back to me on his availability when he was back from his holiday but having had no response i dont want to pester him if he is still away...

Lastly welcome to the new bride-to-be's and congratulations!

    Hello ladies

Thanks for starting a new thread Shiv - you're a star image

Our tickets and holiday itinerary arrived yesterday! They're now E-Tickets which I'venever had before and our printers broke image What a nightmare!

24 days until we fly I am so excited! Going to see my mum's friend on Saturday who is going to alter my dress for me, done some packing already which was exciting and now have nothing else to buy but am sure something will crop up that I've forgotten!

I was on FB yesterday and DAniel was on there and emailed me via that but he didn't say he was back in Mauritius, I have emailed him again to get a final balance on what we owe him out there but nothing as of yet.

He does appear to be on FB alot though so it may be worth sending him a friend request on there.

Well done Tasha I'm glad you've got it all sorted, I'm in Mauritius for 10 days before our wedding so at least you'll have a nice tan for the big day and with you going just you 2 you have got some time to yourselves afterwards image

    xxxx
  • Thanks Shiv for setting up the new thread, you are very organised and it's really helpful! I just had a look at Jo JO Cooper's pics taken by Daniel Villers at Le Victoria, they are really nice!

I have been emailing Daniel Villiers so that we can pay our deposit but he has not replied to me. He did say ages ago that he has reserved our date in his diary but I just want to get it paid up so that i know it's all sorted. I will sebd him a message on facebook as he is one of my friends on there.

My sister and 2 of my friends are in the process of booking to stay at Le Victoria, I am so pleased. They are doing it as one booking because it makes it a lot cheaper than doing 3 seperate bookings, I guess it's kind of like booking for a family.

I need to decide what shoes I am going to wear. I was thinking either barefoot or flip flops for the beach wedding, depending if the sand is sharpe or not because I don't want to be hopping down the isle. But I wanted to wear high heels for the return party, I am not sure if this will look funny because the dress will be alterered to be the right length when I wear flip flops and then it will look too short when I wear the heels! I'm now thinking of just wearing flip flops to the party. What do people think? Is anyone wearing heels on the sand? I've seen those plastic heel things but do they really work?

    Debs x

    Hi All

Yes i am glad it is all sorted. I have no idea why they didnt suggest that in the first place as this was the one thing that didnt cost extra and wasnt that much trouble to sort...oh well i am just glad its sorted now.

Now i know i have mentioned this before but i am on a major panic about fitting into my dress! I think i have a couple more stone to go and not much time! I really dont know what i am going to do if the dress doesnt fit.

I sent daniel a deposit a while a go and he hasnt confirmed reciept so i may add him on facebook if he apprears to be on there alot.

Shiv- Thanks for starting the new thread...so organised....What will they thread do without you once your married?

Anyway i best go back to work

    Hi Vee Vee

I'm so so excited I cannot wait - my wedding reception starts at 6pm but that is back in the UK not over in Mauritus - I'm not really having a party over there we're just going to have a nice meal and a bit of a dance I hope!

Had our wedding day schedule today which really excited me and even bought a tear to my eye!! xx

    Hi ladies

glad you're all approving of the new thread. I think it was needed as a lot of you have said. Thanks for all the kind words about my efforts - it's nice to know they're appreciated. I've no idea what will happen to the thread once I'm married. I will try and keep it going but may need to enlist the help of a future bride too.

Veevee - firstly we currently have 6 people booked to come with us and all of those are staying at Legends. My understanding is you can either buy get your guests who are staying elsewhere an AI wristband for ???????100 each or you can pay for the items they consume - whatever you think may be cheaper. Either way you'll have to pay something.

On your other query re: disco, due to is only having 6 pple joining us and because we're having a party in the UK when we return we're not having a full on reception in Mauritius. We're just planning on having the ceremony, some drinks and then a sit down meal and then just go with the hotel entertainment in the evening.

£500 for 3hrs does sound very expensive! Are you havzing a party when you get back?

2bwells - I think a saw a post about insurance on the weddings abroad or forces brides forums where someone said they spoke to someone who didn't get a pay out from E&L wedding insurance. I haven't seen a post directly describing what happened. I will look into it.

Tash - right time for some positive mental attitude. You WILL fit into tour dress! How's it going at slimming world? I've joined again but couldn't get weighed in this week cos of weather. I'm sure you're going to get there.

Right well keep posting ladies and if I can help in any way let me know.

    Shiv

  • Hey ladies - quick question...have any of your ever heard/looked at or used a wedding planner in Mauritius called 'The Main Event'? I've emailed them a couple of times but have heard nothing back. I'm off to Mauritius next week to meet my to be in laws so was kind of hoping I could have a meeting with these people to discuss weddings etc!!

If I dont hear anything back may try giving them a call while I am out there, just wondered if anyone else had used them?

    Thanks muchly!
  • tasha00tasha00 Posts: 680
Hi Shiv-Thanks for the support. Everyone keeps saying it will fit but i want it to fit now so i can stop worrying.

Yeah i am back at slimming world but like you group was cancelled on monday but she has just txt to say she has arranged a group for thursday but i dont see the point as i will weigh again on monday so ill wait till then. Will next week be your first weigh in? Have you set a target? I am sure you wont have that much to lose...lucky you!

Lotty-hope your ok? Where was your wedding schedule from? Was it the Mauritius hotel? I wonder if ill get one, that sounds so exciting.

Hi VeeVee - I am also getting married on the 14th Oct at the Shandrani and have booked Daniel for the day and paid the deposit but If you were looking into jannieke i can email recent prices.

  • Hi Ladies

Well i have just ordered my personalised cake topper (well secured the date for it to be made) lol. I popped into the shop where i have ordered my dress from on the way back from a course yesterday and the designer of my dress has offered to send my toile (number 2) back for fitting again as the first one needed a few alterations - did feel a little sad that i wasn't going to see anything again until i got the actual dress, so am very chuffed image

How is everyone else's planning coming along?

Shivy - thanks for adding me to the brides list. Is your picture of your engagement ring and wedding ring together? If so it looks pretty amazing!

Hey Wellybobs! Are you getting one of those cake toppers where you send the people a photo of you and your h2b and they make the topper look like you?? If so, I LOVE these, but not sure my other half will let me spend £147 on it...perhaps I wont mention the cost when suggesting it lol
  • Hi Littlered

Yes we are getting one of those cake toppers just need to sort out pictures (i wont be sending all the details to her yet as ive not got everything!) some of the companies are booked up till nov this year but the one im using is www.cakemates.co.uk i have ordered bride and groom and paid to have our cat on it too! All in with postage it was £113 that was £100 for bride and groom and £15 for the cat + £9.50 postage and packing. I did get 10% off by quoting the national wedding show in Birmingham. If you just wanted bride and groom it would be under £100. Worth a try and the lady is available for booking. Let me know what you decide x
  • Haha Wellybobs thats so cool! Are you taking it to Mauritius or are you having it for your cake here? I'm not sure what to do about a cake, we get one as a part of our wedding package at Legends (not that I have any idea what its going to be like!) but not sure if we should have a proper wedding cake for our party when we get back here. Given that its a party not reception I don't know if we need it? I had looked at the Waitrose cakes, they are really pretty and quite reasonably priced, you can get a good three tiered cake for around £200 - £250. Hmmm...!

Hi everyone, i've not posted for a while, well done with the new thread Shivy, the other was getting a bit long! Littlered, i had booked my wedding planner with the main event 6 months ago. Unfortunatly (for me) the lady who ran it got pregnant and is currently in the UK betwenn January and April 2010 having her baby. So she'll probably contact you when she gets back to mauritius, She doe's take VERY long time replying to e-mails so i wouldn't worry to much about it if you're not planning to get married until laterin the year? Anyways.... this might sound like a really, really dumb question but when sending off the paper work to the civil status office in Mauritius they ask for the first 3 pages of your passport, does that mean the very front cover page with the gold crest on it and then the page on the inside cover and the page next to it or have i got it completely wrong?! Please Help, i need to send the paper work this week and i'm really getting stressed about sending the wrong paperwork! x
  • Princess24 - We are taking it to Mauritius, we are not having a reception back here so its no use but would be a great ornament in the house afterwards. We went to a wedding in legends last year and the wedding cake was out of this world, very light and very nice so don't worry about that. I just hope ours at Beau Rivage is as good. x

    Debs x

Hi Debs- I am wearing high heels for my wedding and was thinking about getting those plastic heel stoppers. I am starting to think that i should have bought flat shoes so might buy a nice pair just in case to possibly change into but i love my shoes and will be wearing them. I do wear heels all day so it shouldnt be to bad, although not tried heels in the sand in a wedding dress......!!!!

  • Thanks for that Wellybobs - didnt actually realise there were other people doing these things than the website I had seen! My wedding isnt until 2013 so not really booking anything yet - just getting LOADS of ideas...but is really handy to know that they get booked up so far in advance so thanks for that! Love the idea of having the cat on there, we dont have any pets...who knows, we might do by the time we get married! Are you going to send a picture of your dress so that they make you in that?

Princess, I'm thinking that I may get my cake made here and take it out there with me as hand luggage on the plane. I have seen some of the ones the hotels do - I'm not overly impressed to be honest. I'm a bit of a control freak and dont think I could handle getting out there and finding I hate all the wedding cakes - and paying loads for a small thing. I know its not the most important thing in the world...but still I'd like to try and make everything perfect for now at least lol

On the topic of cake toppers has anyone else got one and taking it to mauritius?
  • Littlered - yes i have to send off a picture of me, my dress, tiara etc and picture of H2B and his suit etc and most importantly a picture of the cat.

Also are you allowed to take your own cake to Mauritius? I know they are funny about you taking food products into the country (ours were confiscated last time). Would be interested to know if you can though.

wellybobs - I have seen on quite a few other forums that people have taken cakes as hand luggage, however that may have been into EU countries. Im off to Mauritius next Friday (flying with air mauritus) so may enquire then as to whether they would allow it and let you know what am I back. I know what you mean about being funny though - my 'mother in law' (who is mauritian) always tries tries to bring back cheese and gets it taken away at the airport haha she moans about it all the time. Perhaps they are just funny about dairy and meat though - a cake might be ok? Will let you know ;\)
  • Eek that sounds scary Littlered, I don't think I could trust myself taking a wedding cake on a plane! To be honest, I'm not really that fussed about the wedding cake in Mauritius, if there's enough for any of our guests to have some if they want it then that's all I care about really. If Wellybobs says its nice, then thats good enough for me!

On the topic of shoes...is anyone going barefoot?! I really have no idea what to do about shoes, and then I read an article about weddings abroad which said that a lot of people just don't bother with shoes. I will need to get some as obviously I will need shoes at some point in the day, and also for my party at home, but for the actual ceremony I wondered whether I should just not bother wearing any?!

Please Help, i need to send the paper work this week and i'm really getting stressed about sending the wrong paperwork! x

Hey MrsMurf...thanks so much for getting back to me! Have you had to change wedding planners now then since the main event is having a baby lol? would you recommend them, not sure what the difference would be between using them or a hotel wedding planner - I was hoping that the main event would be able to give me more of an overview of the best places to get married etc. hmmm am confused about what to do. Not getting married until 2013 so LOADS of time, just wanted to get save the month invites out to family etc so they can save for flights - do you think I could send these without actually having anything booked? Sorry for all the questions, its just we are off to Mauritius next week so wanted to try and maybe have a look at a few places while we are over there image

Yup I am having a caketopper made and bringing it to Mauritius with us. I haven't told h2b about it cos I want it to be a surprise. It's also going to be a lovely feature at our party when we get home and a nice keep sake. Need to fill out my questionnaire and send it off soon but I need to take pics of my 4 rabbits and cat to send off with it. Must pull my finger out about that. Think I will get a sponge cutting cake from M&S for the party when we come back so I can stand it on top - they're only £8. Will just put 2 ribbons of my colour scheme around it.

Wellybobs - Yup that's a pic of my engagement and wedding ring :\) Soooooo chuffed! It's exactly what I wanted. Joe got his back today too and it's perfect. So glad to have that sorted. One tick in the box. Lotty - did you receive your wedding rings?

Sorry MrsMurf I have no idea which pages you have to send off. I have had a look at my wedding pack and it just says copy of our passports. It does not stipulate which pages. So on the safe side I would send copies of all pages perhaps? Who is your wedding planner now MrsMurf?

Well I am greedy - I have 2 pairs of shoes for my wedding! I have one sent which has about a 1.5??????? heel and then I have a set of posh flip flops which I'll probably wear when we have our photos taken on the beach as I think the sand has quite a lot of coral in it so may be more uncomfortable to go barefoot. We've not decided where we're getting married yet so just incase it's in the garden (or restaurant if the weather is crap) then I like to have some shoes.

Littlered - sooo jealous you're off to Mauritius next week. Let us know what it's like.

Right best get ready for bed. Nice to see so many ladies posting again :\)
