Getting married in Thailand- have you been?!

After much deliberation, my fiance and I have decided to scrap the boring tradition english wedding and go abroad to tie the knot! we are thinking of thailand as we love the food, culture and i love elephants!!

Can anybody recommend anywhere in Thailand, I like to go on recommendations and really want this to be lovely so would appreciate any help or words of wisdom!!

I havent stayed on the mainland, but I have stayed in Koh Samui and Koh Phangnan, they are both lovely in their own ways, it depends whether you are looking for 'no news, no shoes' or whether you want something a bit more commercialised? I really enjoyed both of them, but I dont know if Koh Phangan do weddings and that is definitely the chiller place - as long as you dont stay in Had Rin around full moon that is!

I would avoid some of the mainland towns like the plague as they are prostitution meccas! My sister spent 8 months out there and although she loved it she saw some things that distressed her. Her view is pick your resort carefully, but she may have been jaded by her experiences

Thailand is beautiful, but it really does depend on the experience you are after.

They really do make it a special i would defo reccomend this place so worth having a looking into!!! The staff cant do enough for you and the rooms are outstanding. We all booked with Travelbag they will be able to quote good prices on this for you if your interested.

We travelled all over, Bangkok, Chaing Mai, round the islands - my favourite place overall was Koh Phi Phi - it's utterly stunning, like the kind of beaches you imagine in paradise image

we love Thailand too and same reason that made us decided to get married there. Our wedding was in Krabi, our favorite destination. The landscape is just amazing. it was a beach wedding & we have this really cute elephant at our ceremony as well which made it even more special image

we had only 20 guests so it's a small intimate wedding. Reception was on the beach as well, our wedding organizer had done such a great job & we still impressed of what' been created. it was like a beautiful dream ,fairy tale but on the beach! we also surprised everyone with this big set of firedancers and that was so cool everyone loves it!

I would really recommend Krabi for destination. BUt the it depends on time of year as well, I think rain start mid year there so maybe check for weather as well.

Just for your reference ,if need planner, ours is Dreamcatchers Events and Holiday.

    Goodluck with planning image

  • Hi ya

We are getting married in September on Koh Samui! We drove past a wedding planner shop last year and popped in a decided to let them plan it. The bloke that carries out the ceromonies is American and the wedding planner is a lady and is English so we felt quite comfortable as there will be no language barrier when emailing etc etc.

We have hired 10 villas for ourselves and friends and family in Bophut and we're getting married in Maenam at The Mercure.

If you are thinking of getting married there double check the weather as they have different weather patterns, for example koh samui, koh tao and phangan's rainy season is different to the rest of thailand.

By reading everyones respnses you have a lot of choices so its probably quite confusing for you!!
