Not Tuscany but close by in Umbria! 28 July 2016.... JUST under a year away now - CRAZY!

how much have you sorted out? X

  • Hi there,

    Oh beautiful, whereabouts in Umbria?

We have a wedding planner and she has been really helpful. Venue is sorted, hopefully will have confirmation from the town hall in October.  We've sent out save the date booklets and it looks like we will have about 40 guests. I have tried on a few dresses and have an appointment this Saturday and hope to make my pick!  We are going off to the Amalfi Coast for the honeymoon and have booked our hotels there.  How is your planning coming along? xx

It's inbetween Montone and Gubbio... It's called Nikis Resort. Getting very excited now!

We are going out in September to view the options for ceremony venues for a civil ceremony in both Montone and Gubbio so hooefully get that sorted then! We have tastings with 2 different caterers.... One is the wedding planners and the other is the venues so that should be fun! We're also meeting with our photographer in Florence so making a day trip out of that. Oh and a make up trial in Rome too!

We sent our save the dates out in April and have a good response too. At the moment we are looking at around 60-75 guests but that may change when flights come out! A lot of people have reserve hotel rooms but im worried how much flights are going to be.

We've booked a videographwe and waiting to grt a contract from a band so we can pay the deposit for them too.

I tried on quite a lot of dresses on last year and I am going to my two favourite designers in September in London and definitely choosing one then! Who do you like? Have you decided on what kind of style you would like?

The Amalfi Coast is stunning ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ where abouts are you staying? We havenot decided on where to honeymoon yet as I don't know how much time I can get off work! Xxx

  • Sounds beautiful and sounds like you are well underway with the organisation too :-)

I initially wanted a fitted lace gown, but now thinking something a bit more flowing.  Hoping to make my decision tomorrow.  There are a couple I really like by Mori Lee and Sophia Tolli.

I need to think about music, florist, hair and if we are getting a photographer (we have a couple of good amateur photographer friends coming who have offered to take pics).  I am thinking of having a make-up lesson at home for me and bridesmaids instead of getting it done out there.

We are going to be staying in Amalfi town and Positano, have booked the hotels and really can't wait for this part!

Lots to think about but so exciting xx

Oooooh have fun tomorrow and I hope you enjoy the experience! Keep us updated if you do choose! I'm completely torn on what I want for my dress... All I know is that I want to be comfortable throughout the day so nothing eith boning or a corset and nothing that will show my bloated belly after eating!

I I was thinking of doing that too... We all had a make up trial at Charlotte Tilbury the other weekend which was amazing... If I decide to do that we will probably go there.

Positano no is meant to be stunning. It will be nice to go off and have some time just you two. Are you going straight after the wedding? X

  • Got my dress today, completely different to what I had initially wanted. its Mori Lee 5276. Love it and it's actually not too heavy.  Started off trying fitted lace dresses but felt they would be a bit too hot, although anything is going to be hot really!

Yes we are heading off on honeymoon on the Wednesday after getting married on the Monday.  Will have 9 nights on the Amalfi Coast. Xx

  • Hi Katie!

I am getting married in Certaldo, Alto May 2016 - so excited to find another Certaldo bride!!

We have a planner too. My very good friend runs a planning company called "Wiskow and White" and so we choose them. They are so lovely. So far - and touch wood - it hasn't been too tricky to find what we want. We have a weekly rental villa for our party about 3km outside of Certaldo, sorted the catering and a DJ, make-up/hair. What more can we need?! Other than a car, flowers, rings, paperwork (eek), suits, a dress!

I have been massively struggling with the dress. Want something vintagey, flowy, basically Jenny Packam on a budget, ha ha! So far I have just not loved anything I've tried so I am keeping searching.

Lovely to hear you are also getting married in Certaldo and hopefully stay in touch.

    Kate xx

  • Hi Katie,

Just came across your post, I am getting married in Tuscany next June!

So far we have booked a villa through our wedding planner for the civil ceremony and reception. I've also bought my dress, but other than that I have done nothing!

We are heading out at the beginning of October to try a couple of caterers and to meet the florist. Hopefully after our trip we will have ticked a couple of things off the list!

    How is your planning going?

By the way I love your dress... I adore the designs of Mori Lee and Sophia Tolli!

  • Hi Kate And Jodie

    Fab, another Certaldo Alto bride!

I found the wending dress shopping quite hard actually but am very pleased with my choice.

I have a call with the wedding planner week after next so will hopefully get a few other things sorted out as haven't really done anything apart from dress and venue!

  • Hello certaldo brides!

My fiance and I are planning to get married in Italy, Certaldo wasn't somewhere we knew of until a recent holiday, so at the time hadn't organised to meet any planners or view any venues like we have done in other parts of Italy. I was hoping maybe you lovely ladies could help me! Have you wedding planners based locally in certaldo? Did you see many venues there for your reception and how did you go about choosing a reception venue? I just really fell in love with certaldo alto when we visited and feel if we book a wedding elsewhere I'll always wonder if i missed out!

Thanks in in advance and I hope all your plans are coming along nicely!

  • Hi Anne,

    Sorry, just seen your note.

My planner is Francesca at Efffetti and she has been great. Her email is [email protected] we are staying at and having reception at the Albergo il Castello in the village. We didn't go out there to scout venues, although we have been to Tuscany before. Francesca presented a number of options to us which we looked into and then made our choice from there. Certaldo particularly appealed due to its location and the lovely town hall, views and cobbled streets!

We did initially consider Malcesine in Lake Garda as we had a lovely holiday near there last year but we are really pleased to be having it in Tuscany and have 40 family and friends coming out for it. We are then heading to Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon.

I'm a 2016 Tuscany bride too! Have you ladies found someone for hair/make up yet? I'm rather desperately searching...

  • Hi R2,

My planner is going to sort someone for my hair.  I am doing my own make-up.  Planning to have a lesson at home with a make-up artist and all my bridesmaid and make a girly afternoon of it.

Congratulations all, I got married in certaldo in September and it was amazing.

We used Gillian at Weddings in Tuscany. Really good but did miss a couple of basics - table plan a little wrong (just go through what you want). But we would use again, she has the most amazing caterer - guisepe.

Man absolutely fantastic wedding and all the guests loved it

  • Hello lovely brides to be!

were getting married near Lucca September 2016, have just been looking into hair and makeup and been quoted 450euros for both and trial just for myself! Think this is just very expensive and wondering if anyone has come across any cheaper options? This was just what our wedding planner has quoted for the people they usually use but told this is an average price ๐Ÿ˜”

  • Hi!!!

Just found this thread.. what a relief! :)

I am also getting married in Tuscany in June 2016 - starting to stress a bit now. Felt so ahead and efficient at the start but building work on our house has halted wedding planning for the last few months and now I'm worried!

I too am on the hunt for a good hair/ makeup person, really don't want to look too 'overdone' but really not keen on the idea of DIY! 9/10 times my make-up is fine but I have the off day and it's bound to happen on my wedding day! Plus I'm not used to long, hot days and worried I will look awful by the evening! Hair is another story... just want to feel beautiful!

Anyone had any luck or can recommend anyone?

    thanks!

  • Hello Ladies!

Congratulations on your engagements. I am getting married in June at San Galgano abbey and I am desperately searching for photographers, hair & make up artists and cake makers.

How have you been finding it? Any recommendations?

  • Hi Nicole,

Congratulations.  San Galgano abbey is beautiful.  We considered there too.

My photographer is Andrea Corsi  Still sorting hair through my wedding planner, but will be doing make up myself and having  a lesson at home beforehand.  Our reception venue is doing  a traditional cake as part of their package too.

  • Hi,

I am newly engaged (still at the staring at the ring phase) and have decided I would like to get married in Italy and next year - April to be precise.  Nothing like a little time pressure to get you motivated.

I just wondered how you tackled things.  I am finding it hard to know how to go about inviting people.  I want to be able to give people an idea of how much it would cost them to attend so that I can get the firm yes I need to be able to book somewhere but can't look at places until I have an idea of numbers and then need to factor in what will be available on the date I would like.  It makes it a little tricky.

Ideally I would like a villa which can have around the 40 people I think will come to stay.  Has anyone come across anything lovely they could recommend?

    Where should I start?

    Emma

  • Hi Emma,

    Congratulations on the engagement.

You will really be up against it time wise for next April next year.  I believe the paperwork process normally takes up to six months. You would be best engaging a wedding planner as soon as possible. They could advise on suitable (and available) venues and the paperwork too, as well as catering, hair, make-up, flowers etc.  We are using Francesca from Efffetti and she has been excellent:

    All the best,

  • Hi

I am also getting married at San Galgano abbey september 2016. I just wondered if you had found any photographers/ florists yet? Also where are you and your guests staying and having the reception? We are hiring villa Podernovo so just wondered if anyone else had been there?

  • Congrats on your engagement!

  • Hi Future brides!

Im Megan!im getting married in Italy in April!not in Tuscany, but Rome!

actually it was quite impossible to organise it myself, I adore Italy and travel often here, but its a complete disaster when you need to organise smth here, especially such a big event as wedding,

so i read in one of the forums that it was better to find a wedding planner, so I did so, and i dont regret at all! She did everything for me and I wasnt mad looking for my suppliers, or waiting their email for days, if you want she is http://www.glesus.it/wedding-in-italy/

She is my photographer, im really happy as her photos are amazingly beautiful, she is a real professional, and a very kind and attentive person! http://www.tanialerro.it/about/

Ive also found thanks to my wedding planner, my make up artist and hairstylist in Rome

Annartstyle make up and hair, you can find her both on FB and instagram,

    http://www.annartstyle.com/

She is a real professional, speaks fluent english, is very flexible with prices, she does greatly both hair and make up, I ve already done my trial, so Im sure about it 100%. She consulted me about my general look, as I didn’t know what I wanted, but thanks to her great experience, we found my Look!If you are interested , i can send photos here!

Please stop spamming threads. It's very annoying.

  • How is everyone getting on? not long to go for me and I feel pretty organised (the UK bit is proving more stressful!)

So looking forward to our week at the venue before everyone arrives, I am hoping it will be a relaxed week but can somehow see it becoming less so!

Passport sent off last week in preparation, can't wait to see it in my new name!

Anything I am forgetting, would love to know how everyone is doing!

  • Hey,

Yes we (well me!) are mostly getting there.  Have our appointments at registry office and solicitors to sort out the paperwork at beginning of April.  Bridesmaid dresses are sorted, hen do organised.  He needs to sort out his suit.

Like you, we are there nearly a week before which I am pleased about.  Would like to do a little sightseeing and a cooking class.

Are you having a honeymoon?  We are heading to the Amalfi Coast for 9 nights which I am really looking forward to.

    xx

  • Hi Katie!!

We are having the 'real' wedding at the registry office the day before we leave for Italy so no forms to complete etc for us! phew!

Fusband has his suit, he needs to get his shoes and we have a day booked on good friday to hopefully get them and a shirt (and a spare) and then he can get his suit tailored to fit perfectly.

We will hopefully get time to do some more sightseeing although it will have only been 11 months since we returned from Tuscany (we got engaged at our wedding venue). I was going to book a wine tasting for us, and/ or a lovely meal but a part of me is panicking about putting on weight in the week before!

Yes honeymoon is booked but we decided to do it separately, the wedding 'trip' is totaling 14 days (including driving down and back, a week at the venue alone and then 3 days with friends and family) so we decided to do the honeymoon later in the year and get a full 2 1/2 weeks :) We are going to South Africa on Safari and then 10 nights on an island in Mozambique. I can't wait! have already started buying honeymoon clothes..

  • Hi Mrshappygirl,

I am the same with worrying about putting on weight in the week before the wedding.  Want to enjoy myself but not go overboard, which is hard with the good wine and food!!

Oh that's lovely with the separate honeymoon. Something to look forward to.  Where in Tuscany are you marrying?

    Katie xx

  • Hey,

It's in Chiusi, about 1hr south of Siena. This is the villa: http://www.poggiopiglia.com/en/gallery.html

I know.. it is going to be so difficult, i absolutely love their food - i may have to take my trainers with me and go for a few jogs/ hikes around the grounds!

Yes that's what we thought, the Italy trip in total is pretty long so it will be nice to have a couple of months getting back to normal and then off on our adventure!
