LAID BACK ITALIANS ARGHHH ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ค

So I've been preeeetttttyyyyyy relaxed so far during planning our wedding but today I'm reaching stress levels Unknown ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ it genuinely feels like people don't want our business sometimes!

We chose our favourite hotel back in June after my parents went out and did a little recce trip (we had no holiday left) and they met the owner etc. Since then we have tried to get rates for us to stay next june, no luck! So asked our wedding planned who has since met with the owner too but also still hasn't received the rates!!! So THREE MONTHS since we first asked to book, we still have no confirmed price and no rooms held ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ญ

I really don't think I'm being unreasonable?! And add to that the fact that everyone is asking for hotel info etc it's really quite stressful now!! We are trying to book at least ten rooms too... Not just one or two... You'd think they would want to secure the business?!ย

Anyond else experiencing this? It's so annoying ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ซ xx

Turn up the heat on the wedding planner, sounds like they aren't doing the job properly! give them a deadline to get it sorted and explain people want to book their hotels.

  • Thats quite a statement to make, but just curious are you getting married in Southern Italy as you don't say?ย

  • I'm getting married in Tuscany :) I think the planner is trying its just that the hotel don't get back to her... it's definitely frustrating thoughย ย You know when you just want everything done like, yesterday? haha... fingers crossed for a result this week... pffftttt lol!

We are getting married in Ravello in Italy and our hotel let us book our rooms with the 2016 prices for staying in 2017, would the hotel not let you do this?

I've got the booking confirmation with the 2016 prices listed but they have only taken credit card details to guarantee the booking so i am half expecting them to charge us 2017 prices when we pay on departure! (that seems to be the way hotel payments work in Italy?!).

Might be worth asking if you can do this? We booked 8 rooms so like you say you think your hotel would let you book in early as they will be making a fair bit of money out of one booking! x

  • I wish they would! But thank you for the suggestion... I am pleased to say we now finally have the rates... zero discount for a group booking but I'm giving up haha... just want it booked now!ย

Glad you finally have the rates :-)

Things do seem to be done at a slower pace out there! I keep nagging my planner to book our flowers and music but he claims we have lots of time and it doesn't need to be organised yet!

I'm like you i want everything booked in like now! haha x

  • I know exactly what you mean! We are getting married in Le marche in May and still don't actually have a wedding date!! We have accomodation, photographer, flights, music yet no ceremony venue booked. They keep telling me I have plenty of time and that the fact we want to marry on a Thursday should be fine as it's an unusual day to marry!ย

It doesn't help that italy basically shuts down in august

    Good luck x

  • Hi girls!

    ย

Hire a weddig planner and take down the stress levels! I have hired one which is pretty amazing - Speaks 4 languages and is very on top of things!

    here is their website!ย http://www.whiteandolive.it

Reach out and spend with the wedding planner that is definately the best money I have invested till now!

    Hope it helps!!!

  • Hello,

I hope everyone has been able to move forward with their planning!

I am a wedding planner that lives on the Amalfi Coast, working here as well as across Italy and I have to say that life is definitely at a slower pace here, especially in the South of Italy, and generally things take much longer to get going!

Please don't worry too much as all will come together in the end, but if you do have a wedding planner then definitely maximise the investment that you have made- that's what we are here for!

@sarah701 I would however say that you want to get a date locked in as soon as possible so that you can let all of the vendors know and have peace of mind, May isn't quite so far away when you don't have the exact date yet. Thursday is less requested but the month of May is fast becoming one of the more popular months to marry in as it is more mid-season and temperatures are bearable- not to mention the bank holidays in UK and US which lend themselves for destination weddings.

If I can be of any help feel free to get in touch- [email protected]

    Best wishes,

    Catherine
