LAS VEGAS BRIDES - TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDINGS!

Hi

I always go on this thread as I'm getting married in Vegas but I'm always disappointed when I come on and there's no topics on Vegas! So I thought I'd start this one and we could all tell each other every detail of our vegas weddings!

Well, mine is happening on June 28th (exactly 2 years to the day that my h2b proposed). We are flying out on June 26 with five family members - my mum, her partner, my only "official" bridesmaid - my 11 year old sister and Neil's mum and one of his sister's. My dad won't come (says Vegas is not his cup of tea) and h2b's dad is terrified of flying).

We are staying at the Luxor (because it's Egyptian themed and H2B proposed to me in Egypt). We are there for five nights. I have been to Vegas before but H2B hasn't.

For the wedding: we are getting married in Little Chapel of the Flowers. Afterwards we are all going to the Stratosphere Top of the World restaurant were a private function room will be set up for us, for a meal and champagne before H2B and I are getting changed and going on the scary rides at the top of the tower (H2B doesn't like scary rides but has promised to go on them as some sort of act of love to his new bride!!!!lol!)

Then we're back to our hotel were we have our own in room jacuzzi tub!

The next day, our first as man and wife, we have planned a day to the Grand Canyon togetehr were we'll go on a plane, land at the canyon floor for a BBQ and go on the Skywalk!!!!

After the five days our family fly home and me and H2B fly to Miami were we pick up a convertible car for two weeks to go on a fly drive around Miami, Orlando, Key West, the Everglades and Tampa Bay. There we plan to swim with dolphins, try parasailing, go on a dinner and dancing cruise, go deep sea fishing, go to Universal Studios and eat as much American food as we can stuff ourselvfes with (we have both been on strict diets since Christmas and once we're there the diets are out of the window - think we're more excited about the food than anything else!)

After our honeymoon we fly home and a week later we have our party - an informal "reception2 we're throwing for everyone that didn't come out (which will be almost everyone we know - as I said earlier we only have five coming out with us). The party will be held at a local social club and it's casino themed to tie in with the Vegas wedding. I have balloons in the shape of card decks, dice and casino chips, chocolates and table decorations in the shape of dice, slot machines and playing cards, our cake is black iced, three tier square cake with iced cards, dice, roulette wheels and casino chips on and I also have dice and playing card fairy lights.

There, we are having 130 guests and the party will be split into two parts - the first half (7:00pm to 9:00pm) will be us having photos (we have hired a professional photographer to do us a second album of us with family and friends), doing speeches, having our first dance (a choreographed routine we are having lessons for to "I've had the time of my life") and cutting the cake. We will wear our wedding outfits for this.

The second part will be after the buffet has opened and cake has been cut - I will get changed into a short floaty party dress and dance the night away!

I can't believe the wedding is so close now! I have my first dress fitting next week!

    hi bex,

your day sounds great. i love hearing about vegas weddings, it makes me so excited! i think i've bored you with details of our wedding before but here goes again anyway:

we fly to Vegas on 25th August 2008 and are staying in the Venetian hotel for 7 nights. we are getting married on the 28th in the hotel chapel at 4pm. we have about 24 guests coming, some from UK, Australia and Canada!!

after the ceremony, we are all heading to the Stratosphere top of world restaurant where we have booked a private dining room (think you may have recommended it to us bex).

we would also like to do a trip to the Grand Canyon with friends after the wedding. after 7 nights in Vegas, we then fly onto LA where we are staying in Santa Monica for a further week for a chill out after Vegas!

when we have had a nice break on our own, we are then going to New York for 4 nights before we fly home. (hopefully we'll have some money left to do some shopping!)

we're not having a reception when we come home as we can't really afford to after blowing our money on the holiday!

can't wait to hear about more Vegas weddings.

Bex - make sure you post some dress pics. my fittings won't be until July. i'm having a dress by Amanda Wyatt called Poppy.

your cake sounds fab, do you mind me asking where you are getting it from?

the vegasbride name gives it away - yes i am another Vegas bride!

We fly out on 28th October 08, staying at [email protected] Bay for a week. We get married on 31st October at 4.30 pm in the Valley of Fire State Park. Initially we were going with the Little Chapel of Flowers but had a sudden change of heart because as it is just me and H2B going out there I couldn't face the whole empty chapel thing. This way I won't be expecting my parents to appear around the corner in the desert!

After the ceremony we are going to the Top of the World at the Stratosphere too - only as its just us we will be in with all the others - hey, they might buy us a drink for luck!

The following day we are doing the whole gondola ride and champagne brunch at the Venetian as it has the best reviews and has been recommended by friends and that night we are going to see Barry Manilow at The Hilton. How cheesy is that?!!! had to be done...

We too are doing the grand canyon and will be on light aircraft followed by helicopter followed by colorado river boat - might as well cram it all in...

We leave Vegas after a week and go to San Francisco where we are staying at the Argonaut Hotel, a converted cannery on Fishermans Wharf. We are in SF for a week and have all the tourist sites covered - poor H2B has visions of me marching him around the streets with my clipboard I am that organised!

We get back on weds 12th nov and our party / reception is sat 15th Nov. The party is casino themed as are all the invites / thank you cards etc. We've booked a hotel in Eastbourne and they have provided us with croupiers and black jack / roulette tables. I have a close up magician friend coming for the first 1 1/2 hours and then we have Elvis! well peteiselvis.com as not even my wedding will bring the real one back. Elvis is v pricey (costs more than rest of party put together!) but he looks fab so fingers crossed it'll be worth it.

Our venue will be head to foot in dice, giant playing cards, casino chips etc as the whole theme is 'over the top' Las Vegas. All my girlfriends have no problem donning spangly / sequinned frocks but male guests will be told to dress like George Clooney in Oceans 11 as i will kill anyone turning up in jeans and trainers. seriously. image

still undecided about having a first dance as H2B has two left feet and is quite shy. tempting as it is to spike his drinks and drag him up there i would quite like him to remember the rest of the party... there wont be any speeches for same reason but am going to have a first dance with my dad to make him feel more involved. at least he doesn't need a stiff drink to get him up on the dance floor - he's a tee totaller!!

so that's me, goodness I have gone on. Sorry! just getting very excited...image

    Hi,

I'm also a vegas bride. Flying out on the 9th August we are staying in the wynn. We get married on the 12th at 5pm also at the wynn .

We have 8 people coming with us. Willl be going out for dinner after the wedding but not sure where to go yet.( I'm finding it very difficult to choose one.)

The day after our wedding we are hiring a car and heading off on our honeymoon, first stop Yosemite national park where we are staying for 3 nights 2 days.(in a tent). After Yosemite we are heading for san francisco where we are going to spend 2 days, then onto palm springs stopping somewhere along the coast for the night. We are spending 3 nights in palm springs where we plan to realx before heading back to vegas for one more night.

We come back on the 23rd and are having a party on the 30th.

Where did you get your decorations from for the party?

Will look into the stratoshere resaurant as it seems very popular.

Look forward to reading more vegas weddings.

    Hi Vegas Brides,

Well we are getting married at the Venetian hotel in the chapel at 2.30pm on May 22nd. We have 18 guests coming,we fly on May 17th and are staying at the Venetian for 7 nights, after the wedding we plan for us and for all our guests to go on the gondolas I think we are doing the outside ride on the gondola as Ive heard thats the best. Also am going to get a limo to take me and H2B to take us to the welcome to las vegas sign for a photo!! Not sure where we are going to go after the wedding for a meal but Im thinking maybe either the Wynn or the Bellagio but will decide when we are out there.

We have booked to do a walking tour of the grand canyon on May 19th thats just for me and H2B,also the night before the wedding we are going to have a hen and stag nite not sure what mine is going to entail but was thinking Studio 54!! Havent booked anything else but want to see phantom of the opera out there. Im reading the guide books at the moment and theres so much I want to do as well as the shopping!!

After Vegas me and H2B are going to Cancun for a week to stay in the moon beach palace-all the rooms have a double jazucci-looking forward to that and just generally relaxing after Vegas

We fly back to the UK on June 1st and we are not having our party until 21st June, still waiting for people to rsvp but could be around 150-200 people coming . We are having a buffet and wedding cake and will be having a first dance.

Liz28/08 - Hi! I didn't recognise from the name it was you - I'm glad you booked the Stratosphere upon my ercommendation - I just hope it lives up to them! I will defo send you pics of my dress - taking my camera! Can't wait. Let me know your email again if you can - I never know how to post pictures on this website!! I can't do it!

Vegasbride - Of course you can ask about my cake! We designed it ourselves and the wife of a friend of my H2B's dad is making it. She is a professional and has her own cake company that she works from a studio/kitchen extension she had built at her home. She also teaches cake courses. She is based in Liverpool though - where I am from - and her company is called Anna's creations. I don't have the number off hand to give to you but if you google it then it comes up with her address and phone number. As I say we designed the cake ourselfes and she made it - I'm sure if you go with a design you like the look/sound of to a local cake maker they will make it for you. She can basically make any cake you have a picture of or draw. We drew ours. There are sooo many Vegas theemed cakes on the internet though - l;ots of pics if you google "vegas themed cakes" and "pictures/photos of casino cakes" just use that type of wording and LOADS come up. We rather liked a cake that was basically a huge dice but in the end went for the tiered one. Good luck and let me know how you get on!

  • Hi Vegas brides!! Have been reading your plans which sound fab! I'm getting married in Vegas in July 09 but at the moment can't book anything until Virgin brochures come out as we are hoping to do one of their packages where we will start in vegas then go to mexico for a week and then new york for 3 nights. Keep changing my mind about where to get married and it's driving me crazy. Yesterday I thought I'd decided on Caesers Palace gardens but then realised it would be ridiculously hot end of July and prob not a good idea to be outside too much. So am back to square one, have also thought about the Bellagio or Little Chapel but just don't know!!

We are having between 15-20 people coming out, some friends some family so it should be really nice. Virgin's package only has 4 nights in Vegas but I'm hoping to add a couple of extra nights as I'm not sure this will be enough.

Anyway how did you all come to your decisions about where to get married coz it's driving me crazy not being able to decide! Any help would be much appreciated!

For those of you getting married soon a huge good luck, I'm v excited (and jealous) for you!!

Hi ktboo, checkout Kuoni as well we have booked through them they quoted over £1000 cheaper than virgin. They still book the flights through virgin.

I hadn't heard of them prior to booking the wedding but they have really good feedback and were also recommended by the travel agent.

    Their website is www.kuoni.co.uk

they haven't got thier wedding brochure out yet but they do have america/canada 08/09 brochure as that is the one we have. Think you can also download it from the site. They use the ordinary brochues for you to choose accomodation. and the wedding one just to book the wedding package.

They may not be cheaper for next year but worth finding out!!

In answer to your question we decided on the graceland wedding chapel as it had really good reviews on trip advisor. I also soke to someone who said it was really nice and not to OTT. It was also one of the chapels that were provided with Kuoni.

Was a bit worried that we might have had to had Elvis at our wedding as it was the graceland chapel but he is an optioal extra so we have decided not to have him.

Next July will fly by it only feels like yesterday i was saying "a year today I will be getting married" and that was in July 07 ad now we only have 11 weeks to go!!!

  • Thanks LasVegas08, will def have a look at that website. Can't believe you getting married in 11 weeks, that's so exciting, can't wait til I get to 11 months let alone 11 weeks!! You going for a meal anywhere after your wedding? Yet another thing to decide! Can you tell I'm not very good at making decisions!!

    Hi there

I am another Veas bride, so let me fill you in on some details, getting married at the Wynn , Lilac Salon on 16 September and then having the reception at the Four Seasons, Have been mostly using an american site for info on Vegas weddings and I have a couple of current regrets. Now I prefer the garden venue at Caesars and also I wish the wedding was later in the day. also did not realise the Wynn charges thousands for flowers. Other than that I am really looking forward to the day and especially the reception part at Four Seasons.

There are 15 of us in total probably so we have hired the Salon suite at the Wynn for after reception drinks and partying.

We head out to Vegas on 12 Sep and then on for the honeymoon at the One & Only Palmilla in Los Cabos on 18 Sep for 7 nights then we are flying to LA and spending the last 3 nights at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Ray and plan on picking up plenty of shopping at the malls there!

I am a little nervous about getting my dress on the plane, flying BA to LA as have booked it with airmiles, so fingers crossed!

    Hi

Im getting married in 80 days in Vegas and so cant wait.

We fly out on 13th July and get married on the 16th July. We are getting married at Little Chapel of the West and then going for a meal at Cili Restaurant at the Bali Hai Golf course. There are about 20 people including us so should be loads of fun.

All i need to book now for over there is transport for the wedding for ourselves nad guests. Think im going to get a limo bus for guests then a regular limo. What is everyone else doing?

We have still not decided on honeymoon either. We want a proper honeymoon but cany have one till next year due to h2b's holidays at work so were thinking about going to hawaii but have already booked flight home from vegas so would need to fly back there to travel home and not sure if this will be really long and if it is worth traveling all that way for 3 or 4 nights??? We have also thought about flying to San Diego for a few days we just cant decide tho.

iv got a dress fitting tomorrow woo!

  • hmarsh8hmarsh8 Posts: 430

    Hi all

Your plans sound wonderful - it's so nice to read that everything is coming together. We are still at the stage where we have no clue were to get married, or to stay.

We've booked a week in december, and planning to get married there a year later - splitting the stay between the Bellagio and TheHotel at Mandalay Bay, as we THINK we have norrowed it down to these 2, but no doubt it will all change when we get there!

What made you decide on your final venues? Did any of you go out to see them before booking?

We fly out to Las Vegas on 23rd February 2009 and are getting married in the Little White Chapel on the 26th Feb (the anniversary of when we had our first date). We are staying in Circus Circus. We are in Las Vegas for 10 days and when we return home we are having a Church Blessing followed by a party on 21st March - another good reason to wear my wedding dress. Neither of us have been to America and are quite nervous about it. Anyone know anyone who's stayed in Circus Circus?

Hi bexappeal, not long for you now then at least you can say you are getting married next month!!! How exciting!!

Yes you fly home the day before we get married so we will have to catch up when I get back.

    What dress have you got?

    xx
  • You don't have to ask me twice!! Does it apply if you've already had your wedding!!? As you can see from my name, I got married a couple of weeks ago, in Vegas! We only got back from our honeymoon on Saturday morning so I have definitely not got bored of telling everyone who'll listen, all about it!

I got married at the Grove which is an outside venue about 30 minutes away from the strip. There's a gazebo and a little river and trees and grass. We got married at 3pm and there were 14 friends and family there with us. It was absolutely perfect; everything went according to plan and we had an absolutely amazing day. You have all made a great choice as it comes very highly recommended! I won't bore you with all the details but if you have any questions, please ask. I have tried to put some photos on photobox which you SHOULD be able to view but I'm not very technically minded so they might not work!

We had a photo tour of the strip (which Alex didn't know about); we used Mike from De Simone Photography and he was brilliant. We had photos in an album the following day and the disk is ours to print off as many as we want. They're great photos. We then had our reception at Maggiano's. The service and the food were absolutely outstanding and I would definitely recommend here as a venue.

Anyway, please feel free to look at the photos (if it works) and ask any questions. Enjoy all the planning ladies!!

    Hi again girls,

I was away for a bit so not checking this thread.

I am also using Glamsquad - a tip ask for James as he appears to be the expert.

Emma - Good to hear from you too - nice to hear of someone also getting married at the wynn, what date in august? where is your reception?

My wedding planners are Mildred and assistant called Becky, they are very good at getting back to me with any queries. We are having a champagne toast in the courtyard after the wedding - after I saw some pics of the courtyard at night Ilit by candles,I wished we had opted for that one but Lilac salon looks lovely too. we are also staying at the Wynn, decided on the salon suite for the night of the wedding as it is massive and has a bar so we are going to invite everyone back there afterwards as we are having our reception at the Four Seasons and there isn't really a dancing or chilling option afterwards.

Anyone else honeymooning in Mexico, Los Cabos and/or LA as we are doing 7 nights in Los Cabos and then 3 nights in LA, having dilemma about where to stay in LA....
  • emma54ukemma54uk Posts: 57
Shonadg we are getting married on the 12th. Still debating weather to have the champagne toast. We are satying in a tower king for 4 nights, did you get bridal discount on your room?

We haven't decided on our reception yet, what made you choose four seasons?

What date are you getting married and what time?

Claire your wedding photo's look great. I'm going to look into maggiano's as our after wedding meal.
