Has anyone made a Royal Mail post box for their cards?

I really love the look of a post box for our wedding cards like the ones shown in the picture but a lot of them are expensive to hire! I wondered if anyone had made their own? I found a post box from hobby craft http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/mache-post-box-60-cm/586685-1000 that I could paint but I'm not sure how to do the lettering and the E R, does anyone have any ideas? I'm not very creative!

I am doing just this tomorrow! Have got the Hobbycraft postbox and then have bought the lettering from eBay. The only issue is that the letters are mdf so I'm trying to work out how to bend them to the shape of the box. Thinking it'll have to be with steam...

This is the lettering http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/272322044045?sojTags=bu=bu&euid=a12e7b1878544059a0e3dcbca7ff7bb4&_mwBanner=1 and the shop swapped the ER to be our initials.

oh that's great! Thanks for sending the link :) did you come across any others that could be bent/curved around the box

hope it goes well! would love to see it when you're done x

No I didn't but you could potentially stencil one and cut it out. The crown is just so intricate that was the bit I really struggled with.

  • Cardboard! Take a normal corrugated box and cut it into the desired shape....pint with gold paint before you stick it to the post box.
