Wow you have a super busy week, hope you manage to squeeze your wedding tasks in there. The lighting is fab in that picture of Ralphs gig you posted.

  • Cake sounds amazing! Hope your week isn't too crazy

  • Thanks!

Week so far is pretty crazy, haven't made it to Hobbycraft to get things for finishing invitations yet eek. Currently waiting to go on stage at Westminster Abbey which is nice, but I'm running out of time and it's making me feel super stressed.

  • I'm working on the invitations, have done 12 this evening and hoping to do another 28 tomorrow. I also have enough for backups if we need them, like if we've forgotten people or some of them get damaged.

This time I chose a light gold pearlised card and pale gold embossing powder but the same design as before:

I'm really pleased with them! Here they are with some of the ivory/white ones:

I'm really thrilled! Going to carry on with the gold ones and will hopefully I'll have about half and half. It's quite simple but time consuming because the stamp has to be done perfectly, but I can happily sit there and do it for hours on end.

  • They look so gorgeous!! After seeing your first post about them i decided i was going to try embossing, but im only doing one border bit along the top of the stamp, i dont think i have the patience to do it as detailed as you!!

  • Thank you! Ooh do you have a picture? I'd love to see!

It is very time consuming and normally I'm really impatient and rush everything, but for some reason with arty things I can just get in a zone and do detailed things for hours.

  • I haven't started yet but ill definitely post some when i do in the new year! (you have a few months until i bombard you with questions haha)

Thank you :) time consuming but super fun and I'm still covered in glitter two days later 😂

  • I am so so sooo nervous as I go to Russia  for 6 weeks tomorrow morning. I'm so sure I've forgotten something really important..

But I bought lots of thermal clothes and a big down coat so I'm ready for snow:

(That's me posing on the tube into work at 8am on a Sunday )

While I'm gone, Ralph has to sort out and send the invitations, the wedding info website, and organise and site visit for the tipi company. Poor guy.. with me hassling him from Russia every 5 minutes until they're done!

My grandparents have very kindly offered to pay for a vintage route master bus to transport people from the ceremony venue to the reception. We won't book it until we know how many people are likely/planning to be driving or will need the transport, and we've asked people to say in their RSVP form on the website. Obviously plans might change but we need an approximate number to book the bus!

So hopefully when I get back on Christmas Eve (eek) lots will be sorted :)

  • I hope you have a safe journey and enjoy your time in Russia, it sounds like it'll be an incredible experience!

    You're so photogenic!!

Have an amazing trip! As someone who did two and a half years of a long distance relationship, absence does make the heart grow fonder! :-)

Love the pink hair by the way. You pull so many looks off so well!

  • Thank you! Quite terrified currently at the airport but I'm also excited. Not sure if I'll be able to get on this easily but I'll try and keep reading everyone's threads and updates!

    I know I'm extremely lucky!

  • Getting here was a nightmare :

missed connection flight from St Petersburg, because they decided I should have declared my cello at customs as it is worth a lot of money, but it took them ages to work everything out (it was super incompetent and they wouldn't listen to me because I was a woman all they would say was don't worry and that I looked like some russian actress). But when they realised I was seriously going to miss it, one of them went above and beyond, running through the airport with me, carrying my bags (completely left his post in customs) and then trying to get me onto the next plane for free, and doing a WiFi hotspot from his phone. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful with the scary airline lady, but he left his number so I could contact him if I needed.

Anyway £90 and a few hours  later I was in Moscow. But then when my accordion player picked me up from the airport he crashed into a pillar and so the bumper was hanging off his car.. so we had to drive and find a garage in a dodgy industrial Moscow  suburb at 1am that could stick it back on. So we did that and sat and had Russian pop music blasted at us while the nice man fixed it, then drove to collect the guitarist and then out to where we are staying to rehearse for a few days (arrived at 3.45am).

BUT it's beautiful and we went for a walk in the forest today and I have WiFi at the moment so I can keep caught up on everyone's threads :).

Update: the customs guy from yesterday ended up talking to my accordion player due to language issues and so had his number, and texted him today to see if I was ok !

  • Ohhhh it looks so beautiful! Im sorry it was such a nightmare getting there, but hopefully now you can settle into it!

  • It was quite funny in the end 😂 just hoping it doesn't set a precedent for the rest of the trip!

Wow, if it doesn't work out with Ralph it sounds like you have another admirer ;)

Haha! He wasn't quite my type..

  • Sorry I have been neglecting everyone's threads! It's quite hard to find internet in snowy Siberia!

I have found a patch of signal  on this sleeper train and am hoping to catch up with everything that has happened!

I've left poor Ralph in charge of some wedding things and one thing is how we word invitations when it comes to plus ones? We just have no idea what the best way to do that is! The invitations will just have very basic details (date, time, ceremony place) and say further details and rvsp can be found at *our wedding website* so we don't want to waffle on too much about plus ones.

What did you guys put? Any advice?

We went for "Please kindly note that we are only able to accommodate those guests named on the invite - we hope you understand" and again on the RSVP page of our wedding website!
Our planning thread: We're completely winging it.
Our report: A fun, classic May day in navy and blush
    My weightloss thread: Diet denial!
  • We will be offering some people plus ones, I just don't know how to word that!
  • Sorry that totally wasn't clear, I'm very sleep deprived and being kept up by noisy kids on a school trip that I can't even tell off because I don't speak Russian 😂

I would just put “and guest” for those people with a plus one, otherwise just the name of those invited. You could also do RSVP cards where you fill out the number of seats for that invite, along the lines of “we have reserved ___ seats in your honour” and if it’s a person with a plus one write the number two, otherwise just the number of people actually invited. Personally we named everyone individually (including kids and plus ones- we had to send a few texts / do some Facebook digging) but we haven’t had anyone question who was invited.

Hope your trip is going well. It sounds a real adventure!
  • That sounds like a good way of wording it. I'm wondering whether we should only have plus ones we know anyway, but then I have a vision of me becoming best friends with someone's future other half and feeling like I messed it up haha. But it would be nice to keep numbers down..

Thanks, so far it's amazing! I've had two day sleeper trains playing cards with soldiers and giving them an impromptu train concert and them donating ration boxes.. it's been -22°c in some places, snow, icy Siberia, double rainbows around a low sun, crazy concerts in I think about 10 cities so far.. Russian sauna, a Tver nightclub.. it's surreal.

And still trying to do wedding stuff and applications for things at the same time 😂
