An Italian Beach Wedding- a sparkling sunny day ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ’•

Hi ladies!!! I'm backkkkk and married ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜„ I never did a proper planning thread so though I'd try and do a full report instead as I've loved reading everyone else's XD

I'll get started later today and in the meantime I'm also going to be selling lots of the bits and bobs from our day... I'll post on here but has anyone else sold their stuff? Best sites to do so? I was just going to eBay it?

I'll be back later to start the report properly, but in the meantime here's one of the first pictures of us on the day!

The build up- 4 days to go!

After loading dad's car up with the MILLIONS of boxes of wedding stuff, the suits, bm dresses and my dress he set off on his European road trip! Bless him for volunteering to do this XD he set off to drive from England to Italy and we spent the rest of the day finishing packing and tidying the flat before our flight the next day!

     3 days to go

FLIGHT DAY ๐Ÿ˜„โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น we woke up super excited and ready for the week ahead! We headed off to the airport with my mum, sister, nephew, aunt, uncle and 2 cousins! So a nice group of us to start the fun XD at the airport we enjoyed breakfast and a few beers starting in style!

    image

    image

We also found this sign at the airport and HAD to have a pic XD flying to pisa!

  • We arrived in Pisa and took the shuttle and train to Viareggio which was fun and only about €6 each... we could have booked a private taxi transfer for around €12 each which would have been easier  it was a bit of fun using the public transport! Got to the hotel and checked in... some of you might recall we had been and checked out several hotels and chosen our fave during planning so we knew it was gorgeous but was great seeing everyone else's reactions as they arrived!!

I'd done a welcome envelope for everyone, with a letter, door hanger, and bottle opener and a bottle of prosecco was waiting in everyone's room. Just little touches so people knew we were excited for them to be there...

    image

This was our letter, I designed it myself just on Word... I've not got a picture of the door hangers ๐Ÿ‘Ž But I got them from a seller on etsy for only £1 each I think it was xx

YAYYYY loving your report - looks amazing! xxx

  • Our first evening in Italy

After a quick jump in the pool, and saying hi to various other family members arriving and staying at the same hotel as us (Grand Hotel Riviera & Spa- Lido di Camaiore for reference, anyone looking for an Italy beach holiday I can't recommend this hotel enough!!) we did a quick change and went to meet my OH's family who were staying around 10 mins taxi away, and had been in Italy for 4 days already!

We had a lovely dinner that evening, then headed back to the hotel where we stumbled across everyone else having a drink on the front terrace of the hotel, so finished up the sat with an aperol spritz and lots of laughter XD

  • Italy day 2- 2 days to go!

We woke up bright and early as the morning was scheduled for wedding duties... we had to go to the municipal office to declare we were both legally allowed to marry and confirm how the ceremony would run, then we walked back to our hotel to meet our wedding planner for a final chat and to pay last few bits which needed to be in cash.

We then stumbled across a florists by our hotel and through mangled Italian/English managed to order some flowers to collect the following day, as we were going to be making our own bm bouquets and some jamjars of flowers ๐Ÿ˜Š

A morning of jobs well done, we then spent the afternoon trying to get a bit more tanned (we had a few sunbeds in the weeks leading up to the day... thank god as there wasn't much time to tan pre wedding!)- the pool area was gorgeous, enjoyed a few poolside beers and a few more family arrived too!

That evenjng we went for dinner with my side of the family which was all very relaxed and then headed to bed... getting exciting now!

  • Italy day 3- 1 day to go!!

In the morning my OH was released from duties ๐Ÿ˜‚ He enjoyed relaxing by the pool whilst me, my mum, aunt and Nan all went to pick up the flowers and settled in my room to make the bouquets which was a lot of fun and i think the flowers looked gorgeous and very professional XD

    imageimageimage

  •

After the flowers were all done I sorted a last few bits, making sure the decorations dad had driven to Italy were all in the right boxes to be taken to the venue, and I had to put the lights into our light up LOVE letters, and make sure everything my OH would need was in a case as he was spending the night away from me at his family's hotel...  by the time all that was done it was lunchtime... headed down to the pool and managed a few hours of sunbathing and we grabbed a pizza for lunch, before we went up to the room to get ready! At this point my 2 bridesmaids also arrived so we said a quick excited hello in the reception and went to get organised. My photographer also arrived at this point!

we had a boat trip planned for this evening as a pre wedding event, everyone had the option of joining us or not and it was €40 per person on a private boat for 2 hours... ended up as 22 of us, plus 3 children

It was all a little stressful waiting for taxis which were meant to have been pre booked and never had been so everyone ended up waiting around 40 minutes before we could go, but I think all our guests were actually quite chilled as they were say in the bar drinking! It was just me getting wound up that things weren't going to plan ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ but onve the taxis arrived everything else went amazingly!

the boat was so awesome... on a lake with amazing views and a huge spread of food! We had been planning to go for dinner after the boat as it was only meant to be nibbles but there was so much food we didn't need to in the end ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We also had wine, prosecco and soft drinks free flowing for the 2 hours, and our photographer joined us on the boat too so we are excited to see the relaxed pics from this evening too!

The helicopter kept appearing to collect water for a nearby forest fire which was a bit of excitement too!!

Ah your report and pictures so far are lovely, The boat trip sounds a bargain and a real success. Look forward to reading the rest. Congrats on your marriage.

  • Thank you vegaslou and ruthie ... great to know people are reading (although I'm fully enjoying reliving it anyway XD even if it's only for my benefit!!)

mrss85 youre SO right lol the boat was excellent value for money we were expecting literally a few bubbles and maybe 2 drinks but the wine was flowing and the fooooodddd ๐Ÿ˜ Italians love to feed you lol! Wish I had a picture of it all! There was pizza, quiche, meats, cheeses, breads, risotto rice balls, salads... seriously incredible!

    Xx

  • Sooo after the boat we all got taxis back to the hotel and it was time to say goodbye for the night to my gorgeous fiancé! Well it's safe to say we had both had a lot of vino by this point and he started crying which in turn set me off so we had a kiss and cuddle and cry goodbye in the room before he headed off to meet his family!

I went back down to the bar and had a few more (okay a lot more!) drinks including cocktails with my family and friends/bridesmaids! Needless to say i was a litttttlllleeee bit drunk and my younger cousin ended up putting me and my bridesmaids to bed at 10pm ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ was certainly a fab last night as an unmarried woman XD

Aww your last night as a single lady sounds brilliant, love the idea of a boat trip and the food sounds gorgeous.

  • The Wedding Day - finally it's here!!

I slept well but think I woke up around 5am! I refused to look at my phone to check the time then as I knew i had an alarm set for 8 and it wasn't time to get up! However after what felt like an hour of tossing and turning I finally gave in and got up - at 6am ๐Ÿ™ˆ I knew everyone would be asleep so just chilled and spent time arranging gifts in the room, showering and washing/ drying my hair! Unbelievably there was no sign of hangover ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐ŸŽ‰ so after a shower and a little eye cream I felt and hopefully looked fresh as a daisy XD

what a view to wake up to too ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นโ˜€๏ธ

Loving your report so far. The boat ride sounds lovely. Can't wait to read more ๐Ÿ˜€

Those gift boxes are gorgeous, do you mind me asking where they are from?

They were these from Etsy ๐Ÿ˜Š And I got a fourth one free which I put my h2b's gift in! Xx

  • at around 7am people started waking up too, and messaging to see when we were going for breakfast etc! I was excited others were awake and one of my bridesmaids appeared to debrief over our drunk states the night before ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

Aftee donning our bridal 'getting ready' robes we headed down to breakfast where we said hi to lots of people and I had no issues with nerves or eating and munched on some seeded bread with scrambled eggs and a little croissant!

We then made our way back up to the room where i discovered two room invaders... my hair and make up artists! The reception had let them in and there they were setting up ๐Ÿ˜„ I'd flown out the girls from the uk as I wanted to have tr before the day and italian mua were as expensive as it was to fly them out for 2 nights! I'm SO glad about this decision as they made us all feel comfortable and relaxed and we could all chat away with everyone being English! It was definitely the best option for me personally XD so then the getting ready began... no one really wanted to go first so I took charge and ordered mum and my aunt into the seats as my bridesmaids still needed to go for a shower ๐Ÿ™„

Congratulations... I'm so looking forward to reading about another destination wedding! x

  • Thanks Emma! Im loving sharing it all XD

Soooo the first few hours were all a bit manic for me! The bridesmaids were VERY hungover from the boat ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ and once showered still weren't alive enough to be of any assistance ๐Ÿ™„ So it was down to me to take charge of the schedule, make sure everyone was ready for hair and make up at the right times, and i had forhotten to send a pic of wedding table set up to wedding planner so I did that, gave our passports to someone in case they were needed (we were told to take them in case but normally they won't be asked for!)... then taxis needed to be booked for everyone else to get to the venue so down to reception I went to arrange that, and I had to check my dad had all the stuff needed in the car a he was dropping that at the venue at 11 to be set up! So yes, all a bit manic until 11 then after that it settled down and  other people were more alive and able to take over little tasks that were required...

being in a hotel with about 20 of my friends and family meant our door was pretty much open all morning, with people popping their heads in to say hi and see how things were going... it was nice to see everyone and made it more relaxed as it was just like any other day of the holiday seeing everyone and getting to have a chat XD

We had a minor issue wheb we looked at the bridesmaids dresses and realised one had a purple shower gel stain on it ๐Ÿ™ˆ Nightmare! We debated over washing it out but we're worried it's spread and be made worse when actually it was in a well hidden spot under the arm on one side so we left it and I don't think anyone noticed on the day... i did have a spare dress with us so if it had been terrible we had a back up luckily but as it was in a hidden spot we didn't need it! For anyone wondering, the shower gel ended up on the dress where dad had driven in the car, my sisters Boyf went on the drive with him and had shoved his overnight bag on top of the dress bags!!! WHO DOES THAT lol thank GOD it wasn't my dress ๐Ÿ™„

  • All morning everyone kept asking if I was nervous and saying how calm I seemed  - I genuinely was!

I had a quick text at one point to my future husband... just the one each to keep us going XD

our photographer popped in and out to take some getting ready shots of the girls... id decided I wanted to be last as it was hot outside and I didn't want my hair dropping or make up wearing off super early!

I gave everyone their gifts and everyone seemed happy with them ๐Ÿ˜Š Mum also surprised me with a gorgeous very pale blue ted baker bag ๐Ÿ˜

    image

Around half 1 we ordered some snacks bruschetta etc to be brought up to the room and my flower girl (OH's niece) was dropped off at the hotel! She was a bit nervous so all the 'grown up' bridesmaids put her at ease and helped do her hair and nails and a little bit of make up and she seemed to relax after that ๐Ÿ˜Š

I had my hair done which was all a bit of the unknown as I'd had 2 hair trials and changed my mind again so was hoping for third time lucky and it didn't disappoint! I'm so glad i decided to change from what I'd had at the last trial as my hair on the day was so perfect and 'bridal' I couldn't have asked for any better:

    image

Finalllyyyy was my make up time and seemed that time suddenly crept up on us! The girls started getting their dresses on whilst I got prettified and this was genuinely the only moment on the day where I had a bit of nerves... as I sat there with my eyes closed having false lashes applied I could hear everyone bustling around but not see anything and it was a bit of a moment for me! My eyes were doing a nervous twitch lol poor make up artist! But a few  breaths in my own quiet moment and I was fine again! I don't think anyone even noticed but funnily enough my friend actually took this picture of me at pretty much that exact moment without me knowing!!!

Thanks goodness the shower gel didn't leak on your dress! Your hair looks really lovely and what a super gift from your Mum. I hope the bridesmaids recovered from their hangovers!

  • Our photographer then left with my aunt and step aunt/uncle as they were all heading to the venue early - photographer of course wanted to get some shots of everything before anyone arrived, and id asked my aunt  go and ensure everything was set up as we wanted it (we work at a local wedding venue and I knew she'd know what to check XD)

my step uncle had kindly agreed to use his go pro to film our ceremony and speeches... we couldnt afford a videographer and to be honest couldn't imagine watching a video often, we just wanted to be able to see the ceeemony and speeches again as knew the day would fly! So he set this tiny camera up at the front for the ceremony and for the speeches too... I'm SO glad we asked him to do this for us and super excited to be able to watch it back... he's sent us some screen grabs of the ceremony already which are so amazing (I'll post some shortly!) so I think the video will be fab! Nothing professional but exactly what we wanted ๐Ÿ˜„

Of coursw, with them heading there early it meant we didn't get any pictures of me getting into my dress... but it's not the most glamorous of jobs anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚ So I wasn't too worried! once the dress was on I suddenly remembered my hoop- and after that was on I then realised I hadn't got any talculm powder for chafing prevention ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚ oh the glamour! The best option was dry shampoo and we had a hilarious 5 minutes with my sister spraying dry shampoo between my thighs, then all the bridesmaids deciding they wanted some too! we could NOT stop laughing!

  • Next thing you know, the hotel cleaners were all in the room congratulating me and saying Bella Bella (beautiful I believe lol) which was lovely of them! Then we headed down into reception to wait for my car and the taxi for the bridesmaids and my mum... I was actually on time! It was 15:45 and the ceremony was due to start at 16:15- I was feeling SO smug... I'm literally alwaysssss late and my OH was convinced I wouldn't be on time, I was so pleased to be able to prove him wrong... or so I thought!

There my car was waiting, however the taxi for the others was NOWHERE to be seen... at 16:00 I asked reception to find out what was happening and they said it was coming... finally at ten past it appeared! I did not enjoy that half hour of waiting... I was sooooo ready just to see my fiancé at that point and knew everyone would be sat out in the heat in the sun waiting for us and it was super annoying!

    image

This was me waiting- im hiding the stress well haha XD

You're telling me! I might have had a breakdown if it was on my dress lol as it was i was pretty chilled about it I think my mum was more annoyed haha XD

Lol they didn't recover until about half 12 when we finally opened a bottle of prosecco ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚ I've got some cracking pictures of them in the morning but theyd kill me if they ever saw them haha x
