    The week before the negative..

The week before my wedding was my 30th birthday. If planned it that way so I could have a quiet birthday and just focus on wedding planning. However it didn't quite work out that way. I felt like we had mountains of DIY left to do and I had planned it all out day by day for the week leading up to the wedding. Family and Family to be had a different plan and we ended up so behind I was incredibly stressed and freaking out. The house was a constant mess (and for someone that can't stand mess this added to the stress) and we had my partners daughter staying with us from the Saturday thought to the Thursday which meant more mess and added time lost having to entertain an 8 year old.

It culminated in me having a panic attack and reinforcements being drafted in on Monday evening but we got it all done! So that's all that matters in the end!!

I also have 1 friend, they can be quite emotionally draining and expect me to solve all their minor issues. They can be incredibly self centred at times. 3 days before the wedding (bearing in mind they are invited and attending the wedding). They messaged because their partner had decided to leave an hour early for work and they wanted to moan about it. I replied saying "sorry don't have time to talk atm busy doing wedding prep" nd got a "oh if forgot it was so soon" reply. It's only minor but it really bugged me.

    Thursday before the wedding..

For my birthday present my FSIL took me to have my nails done! I've never had them done before and it was lovely. ๐Ÿ˜ I was planning on painting my nails myself but in the end was happy I had them done professionally.

The nails did chip 3 days later (2 days before the wedding) but the day before I popped in and they 're did all the chipped nails free of charge. ๐Ÿ˜

Look forward to reading more of your report, however organised you think you are for something there always seems to be a last minute rush, hope that and your friend didn't spoil the run up too much.

  • Your first post will be very helpful to others regarding the DIY. Waaayyy too many brides under-estimate how much time DIYing takes. I can't even imagine trying to get it all done whilst entertaining a young child, I too would have had a panic attack.

Ugh, friends like that...I have both family and friends that do things like that me all the time.  I'm a good listener, I suppose, I'll bet you are too.

It's so true. I was certain I was prepared and I had everything mapped out. ๐Ÿ˜‚

no as I said it was quite a minor annoyance, but i was more upset at how they didn't seem to even take note of how close it was to my wedding, I knew they were self centred at times but this was a whole new level. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I've been told I am a good listener ๐Ÿ˜‚ also that I am far too nice. ๐Ÿ˜

    2 Days before the wedding

So as I mentioned above the two days before the wedding was a lot more stressful than I had planned it to be. Everything had to be packed and ready to be collected at 9am the next morning. However in the end (with drafting in the help of 4 other people) we got it done. That's all that really matters in the end.

Now I am a very organised person, and I do event planning as part of my job. The venue said that I was one of the most organised brides they had ever had, and they really appreciated it. (Also on a side note it being an alternative geeky wedding they were all talking about how amazing that side of it was too and how they had never had another wedding like it ๐Ÿ˜).

Prior to the day I had sent the venue a power point with that table layout of the room and a slide for each table with the seating order on. Also a spreadsheet with each person's menu choice by table, and any special requirements (dietary etc).

So to send to the venue for the decorations I had a load of Sainsbury's bags for life. All labelled up.

1x bag of decorations for the top table with a sheet detailing the seating order.

1 bag per round table (9 total) with the decorations for each table, the wands/table names for each table and a sheet with the seating arrangements and table decoration layout.

1x bag with the pans plus sings in .

1x bag with the cake table decorations in.

1x bag with the guest book (hint: don't forget the pens!) And varying bits for the gift/card box.

1 x bag for the ceremony room balloons to be blown up on the day (including ribbons and scissors).

1x bag of hearts for the ceremony room decorations.

    Seating plan and card box.

This was our kitchen the night before the wedding.

    The Day before the wedding

So neither my partner or I drive and so we had to get help getting over to the venue as it is a good 40 mins away from where we live and with the amount of stuff we had wasn't doable via taxi or train. My SIL drove my partner and all the stuff over to the venue but with a car full of kids (she is a childminder) it was quite a squish. As she arrived to pick all the stuff up I noticed there had been a minor table plan disaster...

We hadn't used enough double sided tape to stick everything on! So I had to rush fix it as they were packing up the car.

David and his little girl were brought back to us about 12pm and the car was reloaded with suits etc and SIL left to go to hers with her childminding kids. Mine and my partners plan had been to separate at 2pm so we had a full 24 hours not seeing each other as our cermoney was 2pm. :) so we separated and he went and met his brother and dad and I left to go get my nails fixed.

The day before the wedding part 2

I had arranged to meet my bridesmaid at the bnb near our venue at 4-5pm. Both me and my partner were staying in the same bnb and so we needed to coordinate (through other people) arrival and leaving times of the groom and bridal parties for dinner (those that were there).

She got delayed.... a lot.. and didn't arrive until 8pm. It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it meant I could have a very long hot bath and shower (1.5 hours in total). And arrange getting bits (like my dress) off of my BIL. I managed to finally unwind after the long stressful week leading up to this day. I even did a pretend without the dress shot that photographer do. I also had a peak on our ceremony room as well... which made it feel very very real.

We went out for dinner with her messaging her partner (who had left to join the groom's party) to coordinate to make sure we didn't see each other. It was a lovely evening with the restaurant making a bit of a fuss when they found out i was getting married the next day. We went back to the bnb drank proseco and ate strawberries. She made me stay up till midnight so she could be the first to say "it's your wedding day"!! I then ran away as fast as I could to sleep. ๐Ÿ˜‚
